California - Northern

Okay, I just measured a packet of Save a Chick probiotic for you. It had 2 tsp of powder in it so that's 1/2 tsp per quart of water.
Thanks Ill do that today when I change their water.

I'm having so much fun learning about Chicken raising. I do want to hatch some sometime but Im just getting started on this adventure.

I just love birds in general but my wife has been against having animals for so long that I had all but given up. Now that we have broken the ice I'm thrilled.

The 2 little buff orp's that we just got are now the attention grabbers in the family the older dele's now get less attention which I'm sure they think is terrible. I think they will get a taste of the new coop during the day today. They really need more space but the rain coming mon/tues might not make it the best time but the house part of the coop stayed dry in the latest rain so maybe...

All we had was the ones that my mom puts jam in. She said she couldn't find any of her quart size ones. Not a big deal when you're only watering 4 chicks

That's true! I've been hatching groups of around 20. I definitely need the quart sized jars!

No kidding! 20 is a lot. I bet you're in a heaven. I just love the little chicks so much, I didn't even mind when they woke me up at 3 am running around the brooder yelling about who knows what. If I have to be woken up at 3am that's the way to have it happen!

I know there are a bunch of us Northern California types here (yeah, I'm talking to you).

Now, the question is where do we draw the line between North and South?

Finally back able to post. I wne to the show yesterday and enjoyed it, but was only able to stay for a couple of hours. Lots of birds, but the only other one I have been to was the State Fair 20+ years ago so no frame of reference as it compared to other show. Quite a few sales tables and pens. I picked up some Corrid to have on hand for about $10 less than my feed store charges, but the bottle is HUGE and I can't imaging ever using that much before it expires. Also bought a new waterer for my meat birds. They have been going thru the smaller one a couple of times every day so this will hold them longer. There were some brooder cabinets (homemade) that I REALLY wanted to buy, but didn't. Lots of Marans chicks, american Orphingtons, other mixed chicks. I saw one pen of very young chicks with no heat that definitley looked like they needed some. The building was on the the cool side. I was taking pictures with my phone so these are not the best. The ones @BCollietook are much better.
