Last year I had a couple of ducks hatch on the turner in the Genesis. They were fined though. There is enough room for them to get out of the way but they could be crushed.
I turned the turner off for lockdown but left it in the Genesis & had 3 or 4 LF get their foot/leg somehow caught between the rails. I had a heck of a time getting them out & one was even bleeding on one leg so I put Vetricyn on it & put it back in the incubator to heal alittle before putting it with the other chicks. I was afraid they would go after the bloody spot on it's leg. They are all fine now.no losses but I am going to take the turner completely out from now on. Maybe the cradle of the R Com & Brinsea 20 is a better or at least safer way to go. Now if I could just get another one of those surprise checks in the mail to add another Brinsea 20 EX......LOL

We put baking soda in the last batch of fresh eggs we hard boiled. They peeled perfectly! I told my adult daughters who were helping me to put in 1 Tbls and they added around 3 Tbls just to be sure! It worked!

I'll have to do a test and try vinegar in one pan and baking soda in another pan.
I usually put about 3/4 cup of vinegar to 18 or 24 eggs. The baking soda does work...I remember now, but I always overdo everything it is just in my nature.....LOL

It is supposed to have an adverse reaction on spiders! I keep meaning to get some to spray around the ceiling. Monet does not like spiders!

Oli sooooooooooooo doesn't like spiders either. She was having a fit this morning while she was loading the dishwasher before school because a coffee cup that had been left outside had a spider in it & I think it was even a dead one. LOL
So here are 2 of the initial views of the coop design (the red box is the existing small coop) There are some design fixes that need to be applied as the existing coop is against a masonry wall and so will the new coop be on the same side. making the large access door on the front inaccessible unless you move the existing coop. The ramp may very well block the existing coop run door so may locate the door in the floor .

What neat diagrams....good job.!

no worries at all, i didn't think one thing or another! just letting you (and anyone else interested) what i have at this point...
I don't know how old yours are. It is hard to keep up with this thread, but I do try to read everything. There is a new guy on this thread or the Whole California thread looking for POL Marans, but I don't remember who but If I find him I will steer him your way.

I saw those on Pinterest and downloaded the information...I'm going to make them this weekend. My boyfriend is in National Guard and works at Camp San Luis Obispo during the week. Thought they would be perfect to make up and send down with him for easy breakfast! Have you made them yet?
