That's a nice incubator!!

So what do you guys all think? Would it be possible to set eggs, then set more after 2 weeks? I'm up to a challenge, if it's possible.

Your R Com 20 must be newer than mine Kathy but mine is fully automatic also & works great. I got it for a great deal from a breeder in Fresno who bought it new used it once & didn't like it. Her loss my gain I love it. A small problem in the beginning but an easy fix for my husband to do & runs like a champ now. I will fill it this afternoon with eggs gotten at the party yesterday. I will have to use a second incubator for all the eggs I have to put in. I am hatching for others that came to the party too.....LOL
Curiously, what problem did it have and how do you clean yours? Good luck with your hatch!

If someone else that uses one says don't worry about doing a thorough cleaning or says it's okay to do a thorough cleaning while the eggs are resting someplace safe, I say go for it if the eggs can you're doing are easy to hatch. Remember, I am an incubation novice, lol... Only had my bator for a year and most of it's use has been to hatch out eggs I've found in abandoned nests.

This is a Little Giant that doesn't get cleaned, but the person that uses it still manages to get decent hatch rates from it, so maybe I am too paranoid?

So....the turning cradle on the Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance I just got in February has broken. The little arm that attaches the motor to the turner broke where it attaches to the screw. Of course I have my BLRW eggs from Papa Brooder in there and when I went in to check this morning it was tilted almost on it's side and some of the eggs feel out of the racks. I tried to set it back up where it belongs and there was no resisitance so it rotated too far back the other way and knocked the eggs around some more. One cracked. ( Repaired with nail polish). I took it off the cradle and will now have to turn by hand. I emailed Brinsea to see about warranty repair/replacement ( I did register it when I got it for the extended warranty). Hopefully they will stand behind it.

Will be interested to hear how they resolve this; my Eco 20 is on the truck.

Guess who's ordering an incubator today?

I made a little money and can afford to order it today, yay!
It should be here on the 22nd. Now all I need is to sell that chick I posted a page back so I can get some cheap Trader Joe's eggs to do my first hatch with. :) I've always wanted to hatch out Trader Joes eggs, never thought I'd be able to.
When should I buy my eggs? I know they need to sit on the counter for 24 hours and I should buy the freshest ones I can find. Should I just get them the day before the incubator arrives?

And the obsession begins...
Congrats! Hatching is sooo contagious.

This needs to be a t-shirt.
And a bumper sticker!

The BBS Orpingtons have hatched!
Pics when you get them!

What bator do you have? I am getting the Genesis 1588 with auto turner.

Can you get a little oxine from someone? Also for staggered hatching I would really recomend using cups or something for your water not The pladtic tray that will make it much easier to clean.

Here is what I would do for 2 batches.
1. Use cups on the side for humidity.

2. When it comes time to Hatch take them out of the turner and put them in a sterilised cardbord egg flat if you can get the one that is for 48 or so eggs that will give you the cleanest after bator.
3. Book turn the incubator while hatching at a small angle to still give some turn to the new eggs but not disturb you hatchers.
4. Take the egg flat and plastic water thing (that has not been used for water) out when you take the first hatch out. Spray the incubator with activated oxine or something that kills ecoli. Put remaining eggs in turner back into bator.

Well, when I first got it the fan didn't work but I didn't know (hadn't tried it yet) it & loaned it to a friend that tried it without success & I felt bad. After he fixed that & we gave it a try without success again because it kept shutting down & when we lifted the top off it would start working again. After talking to another friend @Chooklet that had one she explained that she had the same trouble & it was the connection at the power cord so my husband attended to that & actually glued it someway & it has been perfect ever since. I love getting deals & reusing things others are ready to pass on so when this was offered at $125, used once & had a digital control with Hygrometer readout & humidity module I took it.......
I dump & wipe everything down with disinfectant wipes let it dry & spray it with Tektrol.
