California - Northern

Ah! So my light brahma is suddenly waddling and moving really slow. She has been laying discolored (like a bad spray paint job/gradient) and semi-flat eggs last couple weeks. Could she be egg bound? Any advice?
That could be from Mites and or lice too. Is she statue standing and over preening?

The odd eggs could be after molting too. The need less calcium when they molt.

Vicki - but shouldn't the face not be red? I have a Cream Legbar(100% sure it's a girl, autosexing breed) named Lady that is about the same age, and the only red on her face is her wattles. My pullets from Murray McMurray didn't get red faces until they started laying. This was BEFORE they started laying, their faces were just a light pink.

They all color up and get red at thier own pace...even hatch mates for the same parents. Some breeds also reach maturity sooner than others and the time of year will make a difference too.,
Hello!! I am the worst BYC member lol! I drop off the face of the earth for months! I need some help with quail.

I bought a Hovabator Genesis a couple months ago directly from the manufacturer. It came with Bobwhite quail eggs I thought nothing of them and popped them in the bator when they arrived. It did NOT even occur to me that maybe I would need a permit or something? I don't know what kind they are- it just says Bobwhite on their site. They are NOT located in Cali. So I assume they aren't Cali strains? I will call Monday though to verify. They are hatching right now. I thought I would hatch them for fun, then sell them off. I'm not sure I want to raise Bobwhites anyway. But if I need a permit...then I couldn't sell them off so that means I'm stuck with 23 (assuming all that made it to lockdown actually hatch). I'm trying not to freak out. I'm hoping someone in here can enlighten me. :D

They are the cutest little things though!
Hey! Is did the same thing! I ended up selling my BobWhites to a teacher who wntred them for her classroom. I bought Coturnix from Chiquita and have 19 of the little things feathering out now. They actually jump when they get nervous. It's fun to watch

Woohoo, great couple days! Not only are my chickens negative for MG, but one of my two foster dogs was just adopted! He was a senior dog with medical problems so I'm really happy he was able to find a home in just a couple months. Good news just keeps coming. :)
Wow! I think you should go buy a lottery ticket now...

Since you did have something going on with your birds did they have any idea what it is?
