What do you mean by check them?

I'm leaving to go out of town on the evening of the 5th, but I guess the lady who is taking care of my chicks/chickens can also either: a) remove chicks once they're dry, or b) throw away the eggs if they haven't hatched...I just don't want to ask too much of her, she's taking care of all of our animals for free.

Candle them to see if their heads are out in the air cell. You should see some movement if so. They should have moved into the air cells by now.

Have a good trip!

Yippee!!!!! They are so sweet Come on babies!! any more pips this a.m.? Thanks for posting the pic and the video is darling!
No more pips yet, but it is only day 20!

The two K Rangers were peeking out at me this morning. They are very cute and calm so far.

You all are a bad influence, lol! In addition to this, I also set 12 others under broodies. The incubator pictured is a Janoel 48 that we bought to use as a NICU, but I thought it would be fun to try hatching some older peafowl eggs it it.

My little ones are so funny. Sometimes I come over to the box and they just look up at me like "Well what do you want" other times when I come to the box they all scatter and cower in a corner like children caught with their hand in the cookie jar. Sometimes all I have to do is talk to them from across the room and I hear the whole box just erupt. I think Reggie is mad at me for putting a lid on the box.

Curiously, do you often have early pips?

-Kathy
No, they usually do not pip until day 20 to 21. I do not know about the Rangers. I have three Pita Pinta eggs in the hatcher and they are not pipped yet.

The UofA blues and the Crele OEs usually hatch on day 21 to 22 and the Partridge Penedesencas can be a bit later.
