When I get a bigger place to raise birds. I want to have those white turkeys with the black tip feathers. I thought the toms were so striking and looked so pretty. Ill need to find the picture again

Anyone have experience with frontline not working?
My Bresse are in a new pen , and are the only ones to have some sort of creepy crawlies on them. Either lice or mites.
I sprayed under their wings with frontline and they still have them.
Cleaned and sprayed the coop 2 days ago.
But they still have them. Thought frontline would knock them out.
I only sprayed under their wings.
The bugs kind of make crusty scab areas as their home. Tiny brown or red things, can't really tell.
I put another squirt on their back because I know 3 squirts are recommended.
They seem to crawl on feathers and skin and freak me to no end . I can't quit scratching after seeing them.
I also put DE on tonight... The birds not me![]()
Hi all - I am having chicken health issue which I am already trying to solve in the health/diseases thread. Does anyone know of a poultry vet in the Greater Sacramento area? I am hoping UC Davis is not my only choice. Every vet group I call either has no avian expert or if they do, they are not keen on seeing chickens. (Parrots get all the glory.)

Im partial to dark meat though so wouldnt bother me. I do not need an especially large bird either. We slow cook our turkey in a stone bowl at thanksgiving. Makes for a terrible turkey to carve but delicious tender juicy meat.I had a couple RP females and loved them. They were so friendly and they make lovely sounds. Management was an issue, that's why I don't have turkeys. One died when she got her head stuck in a bucket. The other left with the wild turkeys.
If you want to eat them, the RP is not the best choice for meat, due to their size. The Beltsville Small White is equally small, but has a better developed breast.
