Don't have the space. Im actively looking though it could mean an uproot of the family. I keep looking at all the inexpensive property up north and keep thinking how do I make the move. I can easily get into a property but how do I survive? (Just a rhetorical question there) Im seriously thinking of hiring a real estate agent to find what I'm looking for.I see Walt and Kim answered your questions...............was just going to comment that I have some for sale right now.

The property next door is for sale. Great price for 20 acres. Chicken friendly neighbors!

It is likely feather lice and live off of the feather shaft and not the blood.
Try poultry dust and repeat after 7-10 days.
Did you try calling the one in Roseville?Hi all - I am having chicken health issue which I am already trying to solve in the health/diseases thread. Does anyone know of a poultry vet in the Greater Sacramento area? I am hoping UC Davis is not my only choice. Every vet group I call either has no avian expert or if they do, they are not keen on seeing chickens. (Parrots get all the glory.)

Thank you Ron. I will do that. I'll also give them a bath tomorrow.
Weird how none in my old pens have them.

I have used Ivermectin drops with great success. Kills the lice and the eggs don't hatch later. At the same time, I also give them all new bedding & litter sprinkled liberally with poultry dust to avoid new infestations.
Some places, often close to commercial farms, will have bugs that are resistant. Ivermectin seems to work for me but all we have around here are Tomato fields.I tried ivermectin on several birds topically, orally and by injection and it didn't work for me.![]()
