Where there's a will, there's a way...
I had a chick hatch at least a week earlier than expected.
I only candled once at 7 days to determine viability & I thought one egg looked very dark... yep.
Meet Solo . . . a silkie of undetermined color (any guesses?)
Me thinks mommy stole someone else's egg (before @chiqita stole them from under her for me to incubate).
I hadn't changed the humidity or stopped the turner or anything.
I heard cheeping yesterday & thought one of my cats had caught a bird outside. Nope. It was coming from the incubator. Then came the scramble to put together brooder stuff.
Thank goodness for a feather duster or the little one would be peeping it's head off.
Look at the feathering on it's middle toe - nice!

'Twould be fun to see the birds with someone else that's actually interested in them, as opposed to just humoring me
Though I do think he'll be just as impressed/surprised at the sheer size of some breeds (there was a black Langshan rooster there last year
)
