I'm glad chickens don't do math, or maybe they do it like we do!

Here are three pictures of my wife giving our spoiled adult chickens some re-hydrated meal worms yesterday late afternoon. These chickens don't know how good they have it. They get let out almost every day to romp and have fun. Kern
You are a great chicken enabler. :) Great irises! I hope your citrus has a bunch of blooms too.

It looks exactly like some English Orp chicks I hatched for friend a couple of weeks back that were from a black rooster and 2 Splash hens.

Do you have some choices? It the chick a mystery breed from a hatchery?

Also, did yo buy pullets?

It is a mystery egg from someone I hatched, because it doesn't look like anything I have that I've been hatching =) and it does look like a pullet.

If the chick is Wheaten, then yes it looks like a pullet.

Keep us posted as it grows.

Oh, dear. My six-year-old thinks that, just because the calendar says "Chicks" on the 28th, that they're absolutely going to hatch then. Like it's an appointment. My 11-year-old gets that it's a best guess, especially with all the upheaval this clutch has had. I'm just hoping at least 2 hatch so I don't have to get a companion...

I'm back. Now that the Easter Hatch is over, I can get back to the threads I participate in.

If anyone is in need of a great flock rooster, PM me. I'm looking to rehome a blue Barnevelder male. I don't need him anymore. I've been procrastinating rehoming him because he is such a good male temperament wise. I'd really like for him to find a great home. He's great with the hens, chicks (with broodies) and my kids.

I personally would place the boundary just south of Sacramento.
Welcome! No matter where the boundary is! (or IF there is one!)

I am brand new to this site and am so excited that you exist. My neighbor just gave me a hen and we bought some chicks--a Rhode Island Red, a Barred Rock, and I couldn't resist the Ameracauna. I should say that I'm also brand new to backyard chickens, which is why I'm so happy that you exist. I have so much to learn.
My border for Northern CA comes from having grown up in SoCal and wanting to put a lot of space between me and there. I'm loving NorCal.
This group is a wonderful resource.

I think she's happy now. She has 13 under there (9 showgirls & 4 silkies).

She looks VERY happy to me!

Wow! That's great Serama hatch!

I wish! Out of 12 chicks I ended up with 9 cockerels.

One of them is my favorite so I am going to try and keep him, but my neighbor doesn't like noise so we'll see how it goes. If the rooster collar works we might be able to keep him.

Good luck & I hope you find a good home for yours!
