California - Northern

There are two trees in the 99 freeway near Madera that is supposedly the middle of the state (north-south, I believe, but not east-west). The tree on the north is a pine and the one on the south is a palm. But, I consider anyplace north of the grapevine to be north or at least central California.

According to my friend at caltrans that is the center both north/south and east/west, which is why they used the 99 instead of another freeway. It is by ave 11 in Madera. I used to live right by that area.

Ha what's the opinion around here on that whole thing? I live in one of the southmost counties they want to include. The idea seems pretty solid but the name drives me nuts. "Jefferson"? I don't want to live in "Jefferson!" I live in Northen California, goddangit! What's the problem with just taking off the "en" and calling it North California?

Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can cream legbar hatching eggs and Marans? Thank you.

John Brekken out in Loomis has got Legbars and Marans... not sure if he has hatching eggs right now though. You can usually find at least one of his ads up by searching "jbrekken1" on the Sacramento CL.
