Thank you much :)

I like the name. It will be interesting to see how the crosses continue to hatch. both girls and guys. Deann do you have rooster pic's yet off the legbar x crele crosses?
I think you are on to something there. Penedesenca have alot of character so she should be fun to watch.
Hi Jason,

I have not kept any roosters myself. I included pictures of a roo a client sent me from hatching eggs she purchased. I think the roo is too red to be Crele Pene X CL which means it is a Partridge Pene X Cream Legbar instead.

I am planning to keep the two roos I just hatched to grow out until I decide what to do with this project. It is all going to depend on the egg color. My oldest girls are about 5 months so I should know soon if they lay the olive egg I am expecting. The egg will have to be pretty spectacular to justify a breeding pen for them.

Here is the pictures of the Pene X CL roo. Sorry the pictures are soooo terrible.

I know Jeff sells eggs for hatching. I know we have lurkers and was hoping some of those also might have extras. :D It's the least I can do after horrifying her with that video. She knew it was but- but like me...until you see it - it's not quite all the way real I think.

I threw my LG away. Too complicated for me. Lol. I'm going to buy a new incubator before Christmas. So if you need anything hatched then I would be more than happy to hatch something for you.

I must be crazy. I just filled out an app with the Doberman Rescue. I want to add on doggy #2. :D I'm a 'pull the band-aide of all at once time kinda' girl when it comes to most things. That's why I did ducks, geese and chickens all at once having no experience with any of it. haha! Then enjoy the fruits of my hard work and stress once the dust settles.

We also adopted a Doberman (Zulu) he was supposed to be for show but his, umm... testicle didn't drop so that was a automatic cull. But he came from one of the best breeders in the US. His color is very unique and he's a HORSE! And still growing. Zulus the man! Dobies rock!!

Uhoh....I've been outed as a lurker. LOL.

I'm in La Honda with my first 6 chickens!  I've been amazed at how great chickens are and how easy its been to train them.  My flock of 6 ranges from 2-3 months old now and has been out in the coop for a couple of weeks. They free-range in the day time and head back to the coop in the late afternoon. I've got them trained to follow me in the yard by giving them scratch whenever I am outside. So when they see me, they follow me around the yard, it's hilarious.  I trained them to go up into the henhouse at night with mealworms. I swear those chicken would sell their flock-mates for a mealworm.

I'm thinking about joining in the NYD Hatch-a-thon, but am not sure. My first, and last, hatching experience was pretty bad.  I think the humidity was too hight and all the chicks died. It was bad.

Anyway, Hi everyone!  If anyone is near La Honda, let me know!
Leslie

Wow those isbars are really spectacular looking birds!
I really enjoyed coming down and meeting up with you Molly. And I really appreciate all of the hospitality you and your kids showed me. That means a lot :D
The brooders are so nice. I can't wait to get some chicks in em! Are you guys building anymore? Now that I know I can get 2 of in the mini-van, Id definitely be interested in buying more maybe a little closer to spring when I get back to hatching.

OSSHHHH!  That was a lot of posts.
Still moving the warehouse but back for the weekend so I thought id say hello to you lovely people.
Welcome newbies!
A few things to say
you people who like canned fish are disgusting! DH i crazy about it,  and i harass him always. he particularly likes the smoked trout from tj's.
Amybeth gratz on the calendar image! its a fine photo, ill be happy to see it on my wall, what month? this will be the first calander I've bought  in years.
I'm thinking good thoughts for the penn eggs and other chicks in waiting in incubators around nor cal.

Its been a bit of a sad time here. My 12 yr old cat  Lhasa  who has all the eye trouble dissapeared last week. No sign of her.  have out signs rewards, checked the shelters and the chip company, nothing. She cant see really well because she was born with defective eyelids so if no one found her in over a week i'm sure she is gone :(. My other  cats are still lsot without her,  they were bottle babies and considered Lhasa mother and hate each other.

Still have a week more of moving the warehouse, then hopefully we will be caught up and I can be home more then 1 day a week again.
Hope everything is well with all of you!

Glad to hear from you. And I'm sorry about your cat. I know exactly how you feel. wish you Good Luck finding her.

Welcome Back!

Thanks Ron. Glad to have time to sit down and catch up with you guys!

where you been? :-)

Lol I know right! It's funny because I really haven't been anywhere. 4 of my cousins are here from Spain. Theyve been here for 3 days and are staying till after thanksgiving. We've just been doing family stuff. Lots of cooking! Which has been awesome! I miss the spanish food my pops used to make with a passion. So a lot of cravings are currently being catered to.

Then Friday I drove down to Molly's. Met her super creative and motivated kids. Saw her awesome property. And got the brooders. She **** near gave them away to me so I was more than grateful for that.

In between all of that, Cleaning up the garden from harvest. Building my auto watering system kinda like yours. But its a little bit more difficult because all of my breeding pens have about 6 feet inbetween each one. I'm also trying to winter proof my hoop style coops more because the wind was blowing rain in. So I had to buy a lot of tarps and plastic to make windows with PVC. I still haven't finished all of my pens I need. I'm going to try and finish another one tomorrow because I need to separate some of those brahmas. The whites are pecking everyones back still. They won't quit. So now everyone has blue-kite on their backs. They look funny. And I still am trying to make it to Ohio sometime in December. So I'm just feeling like a chicken running around with its head cut off lately (not literally) Lol.

I'm hoping to come by your place sometime at the end of the week or maybe the weekend. If that works for you?

Here is a picture of the Penedesenca X Cream Legbar chicks I took this am. The light ones are the 2 roo, the dark are the 4 girls. They look very similar to the Cream Legbars, eh? The picture was super yellow so I photoshopped it and now it is too light URG, but it gives you an idea of their color.
