The barnevelder chick are hatching . They started last nights..... I want to open the cabinet so bad to see what colors and how many I got. I have four trays of eggs in the incubator and they are still finishing up. It is alittle hard to see the rack they are on. I see dark and light chicks....

Trisha told me you can't tell black from blue until their wing feathers come it. Splash will look like splash though. I need to check mine today. Good luck with your hatch.

Thank you,
OMG!! I cant wait to get home from work and open the incubator. I almost opened it this morning but, I saw a few more Pecking out. I didnt want to risk that...I'll try to snap a picture tonight...Im sure I saw a real light one...Time will tell ...

Over half of these chicks turned out to be blue, but you can't really tell unless you examine their wing tips in good light.

See the hint of blue?

A group of 3 splash chicks and a "regular" colored chick. The splashes should have the same markings as regular barnies but really diluted.

Do you have a picture of a splash grown out :) OMG, those chicks are so dang adorable...

Wow, I would have never guessed that one marked blue as blue. I guess I'll be waiting until they are fully feathered to tell.

Amy - Sampson is still young yet, and he's standing in an awkward position, but he might have squirrel tail - if he does, it would make him a cull in the breeding world. Wynette breeds BCM's and I'm sure she'd be happy to give you some advise on him. Alice is just way too adorable. Love the picture of the buff orp too.

congrats Molly and Ron on the hatch. I hope to get some chicks next week from Ron make me feel better.

I bought 40 lb Trophy mono. line for Salmon and large fish. I am going to put that in the small run tonight 8" apart all the way around the run. Like a big fish net.
He may get in as he drops down but he wont get out. Then I can call fish and game and they can come get him and take him somewhere else.
He was out again today I was told so he must not of gotten hurt enough to stay away.

I have chick envy big time. I cannot wait to see these guys grow out.

That is one of the 'extra' cockerels. The one I call Gary and he follows me around purring.

That's Chief again.

Another shot of Gary and Chief.

I have a birthday party to throw this weekend but I hope to have time to off the 2 fellas behind them Sunday I hope. Less unnecessary mouths to feed.

Here is one of Samson- growing out. I am not so sure about him even if I were to keep him. He's not looking all that vivid yet with his copper color. His tail seems a tad high too doesn't it?

Amy Beth, your puppy is adorable.

Your roo, his tail is pretty high and his color is somewhat pale. If you do want to try breeding BCM, I have two extra cockerels that I'm planning to get rid of. They are pretty nice and so far have been gentlemen.
