speaking of feed, what do folks think of Bar Ale?

Bar Ale Feed is sold at Rivertown Feed and Pet Store in Petaluma, correct? Are you asking about the Bar Ale feed? I haven't tried it, but my friend's chickens sort of will eat it and then not eat it ... the layer in crumble form.

I have used Hunt Behern's chick mash, King's Organic crumbles and am now preferring Scratch and Peck Feed and Cascade Feed.

I love cooking with my kids, too! My 2 adult daughters and I spent all weekend cooking multiple kinds of Christmas cookies. This is the first Christmas since 2004 that I haven't worked retail and I am loving actually having the time to do holiday activities! I was even able to have a cooking class with 3 of my adult kids and teach them how to make a traditional Dutch pastry called Dutch Letters. We used my grandfather's recipe for the puff pastry and almond filling. They are delicious and we ate them as soon as they cooled off! If you ever make it back to Iowa, be sure to visit the Dutch community of Pella and buy a Dutch letter at Jaarsma Bakery!

That sounds awesome! We had nannies from Denmark while my kids were growing up and they used to make something like that too.

Sound like a lot of fun. I work for Harley Davidson. We are really busy right now but, i don't want to miss out on any opportunity to spend with my kids. My daughter " Casey Marie" is seventeen and my son " Dillon" is twenty one they still like hanging out with me.. How cool is that.

also sold at Frizelle Enos, which is where i'm usually shopping -- they have a crumble, but also a kind (i'm sorry, i don't know the name) that is more grain-y -- in the photo at the top of this webpage, it looks like the scoop on the right, might be their "layer all natural 16%"?

was just curious if anyone else has used them?
