Oh wow Cheryle. I'm so sorry to hear that. Your health is the most important thing of course. I hope this transition is smooth and relieves your mind and body so that you can work on you and your health.Made some very hard decisions this morning....
I'm going to get out of the chicken "business". A few other reasons, but mainly my health. I just can't do the things I like to do anymore it seems. Of course I'll still have chickens in the backyard, but the breeding is going to have to be put on the back burner. I will be selling everything...
incubators, coops, birds etc. Birds will be auctioned or sold privately, everything else... I'll probably put a craigslist ad together.
It's been so much fun with all of you guys!
No lights Ron. How insane is that??? I wish I knew which one laid it. Not sure. Luna or Solara. I need to breed her with Gary for a nice dark olive green egg laying offspring! Hehe![]()

The Leghorns may lay one for you soon too!
Yummy!!! We didn't have our traditional pecan pie for Thanksgiving because I just couldn't bring myself to use corn syrup. But it is on the menu for Christmas! I am going to use Lyle's Golden Syrup which is a cane sugar syrup made in Great Britain. If anyone is interested in trying it as a substitute for corn syrup, I found it on amazon.com. Gotta love amazon!![]()
Well I'm sure at another time in my life I'll be back in the game! I've had spine surgery and I really want to have another, but all the MRIs and doctors I've seen say they can not see the nerve damage, however I like you said, am constantly in pain and can not hardly walk. I'm on huge amounts of nerve pain meds and nothing works. I have appointment with 2 new doctors in January, but at this point I need to change. This decision did not come lightly, Ron, it's been in the cards for many months unfortunately.
It was $27.30 for a 50# bag when I ordered it on 11/1.Azure does not have the price up now the Big Sky Layer. What was the cost for it?
Thanks!
I'm sorry about what you have been going through Cheryl. I hope you feel better soon.Made some very hard decisions this morning....

I am on the K3 route, so hopefully they will get the layer in in time for me to get some this time.
Ron
HI! Welcome!
I am really interested in Azure Standard and the fish meal. I have an account but never ordered. I just am really unsure with how it all works.
I am at the same point- need to be mindful of feed costs but really want/need to get corn and soy and canola out of my food supply (ahem chickens and ducks). Just unsure of what to do where to go at this point.
Adding fishmeal...does it make the eggs taste fishy? I read that is does...maybe you have to be careful of how much?
Are you thinking of buying a bag and splitting it? What would be a good ratio to work into a standard layer pellet/crumble?
