Did you make the Chocolate one from the recipe I posted yesterday? Did you like the favor of it?

Hi Cheryl,Well I'm sure at another time in my life I'll be back in the game! I've had spine surgery and I really want to have another, but all the MRIs and doctors I've seen say they can not see the nerve damage, however I like you said, am constantly in pain and can not hardly walk. I'm on huge amounts of nerve pain meds and nothing works. I have appointment with 2 new doctors in January, but at this point I need to change. This decision did not come lightly, Ron, it's been in the cards for many months unfortunately.

Oh no Cheryl. So sorry mostly that you are in so much pain! Your chickens and the rest of us will look forward to your re-entry into the chicken world! I can't even imagine NorCal without all your beautiful breeds and your generous heart helping so many of us out.
This goes way back, about 45 years or so. The hatchery messed up and sent my dad 200 chicks, he had only ordered 100. Needless to say everyone started pecking on one another, being white made it worse. To distract them my job was to pull wild mustard and hang it all around the fence, keeping their focus up and hopefully away from the bloody tail ends of the others. We also hung catfish carcasses, they loved them and it didn't take them long to strip them down to nothing, the extra protein helped them also. I also got the job of catching them so mom could paint their hind ends with white shoe polish. What fond memories-not!

so sorry to read your news, Cheryl -- i hope that some medical solutions are sorted out soon!
and sad to report that a red-tailed hawk took one of my sussex girls this morning -- go figure it would be a white one -- can't blame the hawk, but i feel sorry for the poor chicklet. everyone else is completely freaked out -- managed to get all but two back in their coop, but those two are hiding deep in a thicket and will not come out. i'll just leave them alone for a while...
