The color does not rub off of the blue eggs. It is part of the shell.

Yes, the Leghorns are ready to lay, especially the one with the bigger comb and wattles. They are one of the earliest layers and in the spring, would have already reached Point Of Lay.

It could be a LH egg I guess. It was NOT brown or even close to brown. It was not green or even close to green. It was not totally. Almost an off white- like a pale ivory. I'm keeping my on them though.

Since she grabbed it I numbered it and put it back. If she steals more, should I steal them away? The hatch dates could be all crazy. And oh my gosh if that was TJ egg...the chick daddy...hahah a Marans/TJ cross? Or BO/TJ cross? What a funny looking chick. I figure I would rather let her be broody on eggs that aren't 'important' in case she abandons ship at some point.

Just spoke with an old time farmer in Oregon. He commented that it was only 22 degree, but what got me is what he said next... " It's colder than a well peckers A_S." I just had to laugh. It reminded me of a couple other old time sayings.

"I'm Fuller Than a Tick" and

"I am Tougher Than An Old Boot"

Ya gotta love the old timers.

What a gorgeous guy!

Thank you! We got him with a bunch of young cockerels that we were raising for meat. We had to put down our flock roo for getting aggressive with the kids, so I waited until the meat birds got bigger. He is calm and pretty, so he got the stay of execution.
