I'm not very good at rooster ID. He has the coloring of a dark Brahma, but the wrong type of comb I think. You could re-post and ask. Someone will be able to say what breed.
Silver Penciled Rocks and Cochins have the single comb and correct coloration I think. Brahma should be pea combed.

ETA Looking at the picture again I would guess cochin. I don't see much in the way of stiff tail or sickle feathers. Not sure on orps beak color and didn't see a silver penciled variety.

Please note, just guessing.

Yeah, I was looking back through some of my pics from the recent Stockton show. So many breeds and most that I had never seen up close and personal. My husband really liked the Brahmas, partly because of the pea combs, but mostly because they were so huge and beefy, but calm.

We've got bantams in dark and buff and light lf brahams. They are only hatchery but I don't think you can beat their temperment. I hated to get rid of the boy we got in our shipment but with the OEGB's in the flock I was afraid he would hurt them. He was going to be dinner until they got him home, we were told later that "He's to cool to eat."

I would guess a cochin (based on how fluffy he is), but the chicks are clean legged, so if they are his, then I'd go for an orpington. It is a pretty roo and an amazing number of chicks under him.

Deb

Thank you for identifying the rooster. I am quite taken by him and his affection to the babies..and also the expression on his face....

Quote: Being that he's from Hong Kong, he may not be a standard American breed. Some breeds from Australia, for example, have crests, when the American counterparts don't have that trait.

Too cool to eat. That's the kind of rooster I'd like to have. That, and one that crows very softly.

Awe sweetie, I thought about you over the holidays and since. My heart goes out to you and I pray for your strength. My brother died from cancer 4 years ago. He left an 8, 16 and 21 year old. So hard to leave babies behind but just as hard to leave any of us. I use my brothers strength to get me through when I think I can't.

Thank you for your prayers that means a lot to me

Jason and Ron,

Took more pictures yesterday of the OE #1 project offspring. I thought you would appreciate pictures since you both have younger birds. Sorry the pictures are soo bad. He looks alot more like a crele pene (mom) to me than Cream Legbar (dad). There is a chance his mom could be Partridge Pene, but those white legs scream Crele, don't you think? I no longer have the Part. Pene with this group so from now on there won't be any question who the mom is.

Here is a picture of the purebred Crele Pene rooster I lost last year. I wish I had photos of him as a juvie to compare. I remember it took forever for his tail to grow this big. Oh, I miss that boy.

Here are one of the OE #1 pullets. She is only 10 weeks. Ron, how old are your girls? About the same age if I remember.

Mine are about 6 weeks old. They do not have crests going yet. I will try to get pictures tomorrow.

I have on of each gender for the Blue Barnie OEs. The boy is not crowing yet.

I am getting ready to put the Crele Pene egg into the Octagon. I am waiting for it to tilt back.

May I present...

Clovis and his many wives ( one who is going to live with Ron)

White Bresse!

Mario is already teaching them to beg for BSF....
They look great!

Let me know pickup details. I will need to put the time into my work calendar to take it off.
Congrats to Ron!
