I was excited to see one of my blue marans, who I'm waiting to lay a nice chocolate egg, hanging with the roo all day and tonight she moved next to him on the roost....then I came down to the house to watch the rest of the Superbowl and the puppy was acting weird, shaking her head and scratching at her face. I look at her and her face is blowing up like a balloon! I had given her the 6-1 shot of her puppy shots earlier.....she had anaphylaxis. By the time I could find any benedryl her eyes were swollen shut and she looked like a Shar pei on a springer spaniel body. We rushed her to the 24 hour vet (these things never happen during regular hours). They gave her a shot of benedryl and steroids (and a couple of hundred dollars) and we have to keep giving benedryl. Poor baby.....and then we missed the best part of the Superbowl!
Poor Baby. Picture reminds me of a bee sting one of our dogs got. She should be back to her silly puppy self soon.

When I saw the picture it looked like you had a lot of big head spots, which from my limited knowledge of Jaerhons means girls.  That is pretty darn exciting!!  I have Jaerhons coming in March from SH.  Can't wait.

The Jaerhon's are not a very big chicken, but they seem to lay well. Nice size egg for the size of chicken and they don't eat to much. I'm really liking them..

I took a few photos for Jeff of his chickens. I am sharing a few randoms I got. Ones that may not make his site...but made me smile anyway. :D

This one cracks me up!

Poor puppy. I'm glad you got her into the vet. Hope she is feeling better today.

Can you cancel the Jaehorns and get hatching eggs from Molly?
funny thing.. I have been waiting for these chicks since Jan 2012, so I am afraid to mess with the order or I may never get the other chicks I have been waiting for.... I can always get eggs from Molly also.... there is not limit to chicken math. LOL

I ordered them last year when I sold eating eggs and thought they would be a great addition to the layer flock. I no longer sell eating eggs so I am not sure what I will do with them since I have too many projects and not enough pens as it is. They are cool looking birds and I love the fact that they are auto-sexing.
