I go away for 4 days and come back to 331 new posts in the forum. You guys have been busy. I will likely skim forum (mostly for pictures LOL ), but doubt I can read them all. I hope everyone, and their flocks are doing well!!!

I came home in time to see my bators popping. I have lots of eggs hatching right now. Some of the eggs include eggs I picked up at the show from Papa Brooder, Chooklat and Debsflock. Thanks guys!! I have not opened bator yet, so not sure which eggs have hatched. The wait is killing me.

i similarly have had a couple of insanely hectic weeks, and am hopelessly behind on this thread. looks like lots of hatching going on! i'm trying to resist the temptation to get some more pullets this spring (if I do, am thinking of a few swedish flower hens to go with my lovely roo?)

the cream legbars haven't started laying yet, but i'm pretty sure everyone else is -- have worked out a wine-for-eggs swap with someone in the political science dept, but still have too many eggs to keep up! need to find more folks to trade with...

I got my hovabator from a swap. Thanks to Chiqita for setting it up and letting me know about it! I need to figure out what all replacement parts to order to get it up and running. So excited!!

I think duck will be my first thing to hatch. And then give them away or something. I don't want the ducklings. Running out of room for more ducks. Our duck coop is only 10x10. We have 23 fowl in there now. I'm grateful they only sleep in there and out on the pond for the day.

For those of you that have turkeys. What 'extra' things do you need to do for them over and above chickens/duck/geese? I think it would be fun to have a pair. But I am not working for my stress load to increase if I need special housing, fencing, food, considerations and illnesses like blackhead concern me...

Hi, All!!! Monet and I are back in California after spending a week helping with my sister's girls while she had surgery. It was special to be there with them but we sure missed our chickens and I was happy to see them this morning!

My sister is doing fine and is thankful that the tumor is gone! After removing it, the doctors changed the status from stage 0 to stage 2 because it had grown so much in the past 2 weeks and had some aggressive characteristics. The lymph nodes were clear so she will probably not have to have radiation but may need to have chemo. The pathology report won't be in for a few weeks and once it is in, the doctors can decide where to go from here. I was very impressed with her doctors and the hospital.

We got back in Oakland late last night. Our first day back home in California was sure eventful. All of my chickens were fine but someone hacked into my eBay account and charged my PayPal account for shipping for 35 international packages. It was a huge amount of money and I didn't have enough in my PayPal account to cover it so PayPal took the money from my bank account. When I went to pay a bill this morning, my bank balance was at $0!

Talk about a shock! Thank God that I caught it on the day the charges were to go through! My credit union was able to reverse the charges and put a block on my account so PayPal couldn't withdraw the money again. I spent all morning and part of the afternoon on the phone with PayPal and eBay. I think that I talked to 6 different eBay customer service representatives working out of India. Talk about frustrating! One operator had me void all of the shipping labels and change my password. 2 of the packages were already in transit so I was unable to void them. They were shipped from Banks, OR and Azusa, CA. I have my money back but I'm sure that this isn't the end of the problem! Someone will have to eat the $55.40 in postage for the 2 packages that were mailed but they better not try to make me pay for them!

All I wanted was a nice relaxing day with my chickens. I just poured a glass of wine and I'm headed off to watch some mindless TV! Have a good evening!

I have been thinking about you all week. I'm also picking up your chickens today ( ironicaly they are in oakland , haha) Im glad they caught your sisters stuff before it moved, while its still scary upgrade, it makes you believe someone( or something) is nudging you to the right place when they catch it at that critical stage. More evidence for higher power whatever you want to call it.

So sorry about your account. We have pp and any auto payment set to a card that has a very small limit and cant give more cash just for that reason, DH is parinoid. Not that i'm complaining, online theft is crazy easy to do and so many places keep info they should not. Im glad you caught it so fast, and it only took a day to fix.

I think my wife has to get the car in but would love to get these set. I am getting crele eggs out my ears. I want to test hatch some white empordanesa as well so I may try those in mine.

I'm so sorry about the car! And glad your wife is fine. if you ever get stuck and deb cant help, yell at me. I can fit a hundred eggs in the megabator and not notice. I finally got all the kinks worked out, and its holding at 99.3 and 33% humidity. Of course now its in my formal living room.. at least it looks kind of retro and interesting, lol.

Wormed the chooks today.

I was drawing outside and conveniently one of my Leghorns came up to me, looked at me, and pooped a poop with a worm in it right in front of me. They know who to contact when they have an issue.

Hi all! I was a lurker until recently and just found this awesome thread. I wanted to share the eggs I got from my newly adopted hens - I got 5 girls Sunday and they have given me ~4 eggs every day since! The pic shows one from each girl.
And I've got chicken fever bad!!!

I'm looking into hatching eggs to add to my flock!

I have Olive egger eggs coming out of my ears! If you need some let me know, we are in San Jose so not terribly far. The silkies nad cream legbars are not keeping up with my orders, however so I cant offer those yet. ( I had a cl person cry on me over that yesterday even!) And a rooster! clearly you need an olive eger rooster! Muffler needs a home close enough I can rent him back for a few weeks every 6 months, it would be perfect! ( mwhahaha)

hrm.. its not working?? I thought it just had a hole and was missing a rail..... thats not good if it isn't working.

Well it works but the thermometer/hygrometer thingy is broken- which I knew about. I can't use it without that working. The turning tray needs a little fix- 2 of the trays are broken on 1 side. Not a tough thing to fix. The foam is also busted up on 2 corners- which I also knew. Nothing is complicated. I think some little pieces fell out of the box in transit- as I seem to be missing a couple pieces. The ends were not taped well and the pieces were not placed in a baggy. I can take pics of what I have - maybe someone with a Hovabator can tell me what all I might be missing. I don't think it's much. A couple little metal hooks (that I suspect fell out in transit), needs a new therm/hygro and patch up foam mostly.
