Wow, just caught up again. So much to respond to. Won't quote but just lost thoughts below. :-)

Miss Molly you always make me feel better!! I limit myself to setting 100 eggs a week and people think I'm crazy. Glad to know you are double crazy. ;-p. awaiting more good news from you and def have you in my prayers

For those searching for BLRW. Look at my signature for the as for hatching eggs. They are in there if you are Interested. :-). I have two breeding pens so you can get unrelated birds.

Worming: I used ivermectin this winter. Worked great

Guineas: I have four that have just been given freedom to roam. Will see how they do.

Chiquita: i did the Same thing. Put two breeds together that I thought I would be able to identify. Worse ssomeone came for the rhodebar Pullets. So I had to give her my first 2 speckled Sussex chicks because I couldn't be 100% confident of which was which. :-) oh well. She'll get some beautiful chicks for sure.

Amybeth: think you got it sorted but I lost my clips and plugs long ago and my hovabator does great without them. Don't think you need them. :-)

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Other good news of the week:

I got my first gold laced orpington eggs which will be going into the incubator tomorrow. Can't wait!!! I think every single one of my breeding pens are laying. Yay!!

And that's about 25 breeding coops and 8 breeding pens.

Still working on the chicken count. Although it has both reduced by about 60 roosters/Pullets/chicks being sold and of course increased by last hatch by 75 plus chicks. I think I will make this count a sans chick count for my sanity. I only have 7 coops, my small breeding pens, and one grow out coop left to count...I'm at ... Gulp 250 so far. No chicks in that number and still missing

Crazy chicken guy! hahah!

Awesome photos as usual... I love photography as well... wondering what you do on the camera to achieve that out-of-focus outer perimeter look....

It's all in the settings. I shoot manual. Like everyone here knows chickens - I know my camera and lenses and light. :D Thank you so much for the compliment. <3

Okay you guys are freaking me out a little. The numbers, 8 pens here, 5 over there, 100 eggs 200 eggs

. I started this idea of chickens about 3-4 years ago. I thought oh great! Fairfield allows 3 hens. I will just order 3 from My Pet Chicken. Somehow my box ended up with 12 chicks in it. That is the proverbial Chicken Math everyone talks about.

Anyway I had to move and a friend with a farm took my girls for me. Now I am in Roseville, and they allow 6 hens.......

I did again order from My Pet Chicken and cut my order from 16 down to 11 for delivery in May. Since I always wanted to hatch my own, this enabeling community makes it seem like anyone can do anything here. (hence the reason I have meal worms in my living room)

So the New Hovabator is on it's way.... more of a cost thing since the Brinsea was more exensive, and about 12 eggs or so on order from Deanne at Just Struttin. I want some of the super pretty home grown birds. They look so much nicer than Hatchery stock. Probably going to get a couple Wheaten Ameracauna eggs too soon. :)

So the reason I am a little freaked out is because I am just the type of person to think, eh..... what's a few hundred more eggs in the bators!!!! I don't live on farm. It would be bad for me to have that much. But....... I can see it happening! Just say no, just say no, just sa no......

Keep it all clean and remove the roos before they crow. Make sure to give eggs to your neighbors and you should be fine.

There is a Small Animal Exchange in Orange Vale for the extra chickens. You could hatch and take chicks there once a month. They usually start up in April and run through Sept.

Edited to add: try to limit to less than 25 in town.

Yeah, I'm kind of in the same boat. Only allowed to have six hens in town. Borrowed my friend's Hova Bator and somehow it is full! Luckily, the same friend is low on chickens now, so after picking just six, the rest will be going to his ranch.

Larry's birthday is monday and I'm thinking of doing a gift certificate (but we'll do it in the summer) of this middle fork american river white water raft trip and then staying at a B&B or nice hotel. http://www.aorafting.com/river/middle-fork-american/one-day-trips.htm

Has anyone done this stretch of the river and does anyone have recommendations for lodging nearby? Or if there is a better rafting company or other activities
