Our sweet baby died
hit.gif
She seemed like she was doing so much better, so we went to the feed store to get her a friend before they closed and when we came back she was on her back again, dead. And the two we picked up for her are both sick, too! One was trampled in the corner (think it's circling the drain, sadly) and the other seems like it might make it. I thought, hey, at least they wont trample her. Guess I should have just gotten lively ones. I'm sure if the one dies they'll give me a different one, though. It was my choice, and all the others looked healthy. The worst part is, I think I'll always wonder if maybe she got too hot and couldn't move. If we had stayed home she might have been okay. I'd like to post a black and white picture I took of her before we buried her, but I don't want to bother anyone so you all let me know if that would be alright. It isn't graphic, of course. Just sad. She was so tiny, it looked like she was curled up back in the egg.

I'm so sorry that she didn't make it!

At least she had loving care for the time she had left instead of dying at the bottom of the heap at the feed store. I would like to see the pic if it is okay with everyone else.

I think that would be fine - poor little thing.
You did all you could for her, and I'm sure her spirit is grateful for it.
If bad things come in threes then her passing is the third one, no more allowed! Don't ask how I made the count 3, its kinda like chicken math - don't analyze, just accept.

I'll remove this if it bothers anyone. Here was our sweet baby.

My daughter (6 years old) wrote this poem for her:

Babe
Cluck Cluck Cluck
at the meadow's end
Cluck Cluck Cluck
says the chick at dusk

Winter is Cool and Summer is warm
but oh what a beautiful place Spring is.

Aw, she looks so peaceful - she if very lucky to have had such a loving family for her short time here. She doesn't know that she wasn't here for as long as she should have been - she just knows that she was loved while she was here. Your daughter's poem is lovely as well. What a nice way for your daughter to process your sweet baby's passing.

It was so nice of you to take her home in the first place. Your efforts gave her love for a short time. Daughter wrote a beautiful poem.

That was one lucky chick. It got the chance to live with you which it would not of gotten at the feed store.
That is why it looks so peaceful.
