A female and male Appleyard from my Silver Appleyard stock.

Our last batch of babies

Chicken pics maybe later today. Had to share my duckies though! These Appleyards are ginormous! Easy 10 pounds on the males. Of not more.
Two More Ducks hatched this morning! Six so far. Several more pips so I think there will be 10 or so Total.

Turtle brownies coming out of the oven now. YUM.
I made strawberry shortcake for the first time the other night!

You guys have inspired my desert creativness to spark. Turtle brownies sound YUMMY!!

I have just within the last 15 minutes set up my Little Giant and I am already confused. Please decipher for me:

First source of confusion: I turned the adjusting screw to hear the click. The light went out as it said it would but they call it the "pilot" light, Then I did the 6 turns clockwise and it says "The indicator light and the element are now turned on..." I am scratching my head because the only light I can see is still off. BTW in the diagram of the parts there is no mention of a "pilot light" but the light that went off when I heard the click is identified as the "indicator light."

Second source of confusion the second to last line in that set of directions reads "The red indicator light will always be on when the heater element turns off." then in the beginning of the next paragraph the first line says, "As the incubator heats up the wafer thermostat will expand and operate the switch turning off the heater AND indicator light." Now I am scratching because I don't understand...is the light on when the heater is on or is it off? If it comes on when the heater is on then my heater is broken...:(

I think they are using the words light and on and off a little too broadly. Do they mean, the light goes out while it is heating up but the mechanism that turns the indicator light on is still on? Further does it mean the on and off indicator will shine when the heater turns off? Because that is NOT what it says....

Man I just reread that and it is as confusing as the directions...I hope you understand and can help....I am about ready to have my eggs all shipped to Ron :-)

This thread has some tips:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/601352/little-giant-incubator-tricks

I do not know if it has the exact answers, but it is 71 pages long so should have a lot of help for you. Good thing you are giving your self plenty of time to get it figured out.
