Humidity in the incubator goes down with increasing temperature. 45% in my house becomes 15% in the incubator which is too low for hatching. It does not take too much to get to the 35% level.
Same with me. Once it's going for a bit it drops a lot with the heat and I add one trough of water in the bottom. By lockdown I add water to both troughs and plus a soaked paper towel and its right about 65

I was carrying a mustard colored purse and a dozen eggs!
That made me laugh!

Interesting! I did not know that. A marans person told me they ran their Marans at 20% and I wondered how... Good to know. I have never tried to dry hatch so I have never seen my bators below 55% which ironically is usually the same hum as my room.

Okay, I got the Gladware things and put three in filled with bottled water. I'm nervous! What is my humidity aim with these? Will it harm the eggs to have gone from high humidity (around 56%) to a lower one? I have the red plug out for fresh air and the temperature is doing well.
Thanks

I don't know why BYC wants these to be upside-down. Sorry!
good for you Jordan, you look like a pro!!! Love the circles

My Bobwhite quail just started hatching this evening! They just went into lockdown last night and were not supposed to hatch until Tuesday. Within a couple hours of lockdown, several of them had pips. We just got home from having desert at my oldest daughter's house and one quail has hatched!!! So, I ended up hatching at least one baby on Easter after all!

I just got home from Easter dinner and checked on my eggs. I have my first pip!!! It's actually 2 little cracked places. Is that normal?? One is right below where the air cell was on Friday, and a bigger one in the air cell. Humidity is at 62%. Do I need to bump it up a little?

No that should be ok. The humidity will rise when they start to hatch too
