So, my mom was talking to my neighbor down the street who used to own chickens, and is actually building a coop now so he can get more.
He was telling my mom that he has a pair of homing pigeons that I can have, if I want them, and that they can stay in the coop with the chickens.
Anyone know anything about this? Seems odd to me.

Right now we just have the one coop ready but we do have two runs so I think what I will do is coop her with the others at night but pen her during the day in the second run. Dang it all! I wish I could just have her go somewhere nice where she will be able to free range but not have access to any one else's eggs. Alternatively I can send her to freezer camp but I have to find someone to process her.

I could CL her but that worries me too.

sigh...

I really like how when you post it sounds just like the way I would think you talk face to face.

I have an egg eater. I caught her on the nest broken egg under her...egg all over her beak. **** **** ****. I think this is the first time it has happened. Going to add more calcium to their diet and stick some mango seed and more golf balls in there. I can't collect between 7:30 and 3:45 because I am at work....should I stick her in another pen so she doesn't go after other hen's eggs? Just wait and see?? I will get rid of her but I don't want to.

Oh no! I'm sorry about the egg eater. Maybe if she was on her own for a while with only fake eggs/golf balls she would get tired of pecking them? My aunt had an egg eater, I can't remember what she did.

And thanks! That's so nice. Kind of like a hug in word form.

Grr it's not letting me upload pics from my phone anymore. Wants a link

My husband had chickens and pigeons in the same coup when he was a kid. He said the pigeons roosted on smaller dowels a little higher in the coop and that they had a different door to go in and out of at the top? Anyways, it worked well he said to have them both share.

Adorable! Congratulations!

I finally took some pics of my new chicks. Here's one of all of them, in their holding box while I was cleaning the brooder. I have two easter eggers, a speckled sussex, a barred plymouth rock, blue laced red wyandotte and blue orpington:

I'm pretty sure I've figured out who's who, just not sure how the orp and BLRW are going to feather out. Not sure if the orp might be a splash, can you tell at this age?
I wish I had better pics of the orp and BLRW but they are not fans of staying still.
