But you did catch it!

That is fantastic news!

Sending positive thoughts your way for good news :hugs Wow! That is amazing all 36 developed!! What colors are you expecting? I have a lone white bantam Cochin rooster that I am thinking about getting some girls for. His name is "Puppy" because the lady's flock he came from in Michigan calls her bantam Cochins "chick-a-puppies" because they are so friendly and follow her everywhere. I have kept this guy because he is just so sweet and follow me everywhere :love He does carry the gene for Mille Fleur. Puppy, trying to catch my favor with a piece of shavings
He is beautiful... She sent me multiple colors. So far I see blue, lav, brownish, yellow, multi color chicks. I am over joyed with these babies. They are still hatching. I will snap some pictures tomorrow.

Remember the Black Penes?

I moved them into a brooder with week old Australorps. They each got adoptive "mothers" and would crawl under the big ones. I was worried that they would get smashed, so this morning I moved them into their own brooder. Tonight they started chirping very loudly.

I made sure they had water and food and that they were eating and drinking. I checked them for pasty butt and gave the baby vitamins without iron but they just kept chirping away. I finally gave in and moved them back in with the Australorps. One ran straight under one of the Blue ones and the other ran under one of the Black ones.

Not a chirp since. Who knew that week old Australorps would brood 3 day old Black Penes.....I may have a bunch of Broody hens some day too.

Everything ok? What are they looking for?

They are trying to find out what causes me to be so chicken crazy :)

Seriously, I have a small tumor on my pituitary glad. They need to see if its grown. My prolactin is extremely elevated ...
I have also been dealing with a few other health issues.. We are just trying t get to the bottom of things.. :)
I'm sure I will be fine.. <3

Precious story! What sweet chickies!

Thank you everyone for the good thoughts. It really means a lot to me...
They sad it will be about five days until they get the report back.
It took for ever. They had to do it under contrast injection. That means two times...
The whole time I was thinking about how I would rather be home playing with my chickens

I got a kick out of the far side carton. My life is like a carton in so many ways.....

Medical issues are so stressful and in my completely unprofessional opinion you should treat yourself to more chicken therapy.

I candled the Marans eggs tonight, they go in lockdown on Wednesday. 2 of the 13 shipped eggs are clear and a few of the other dozen are maybe early quitters but dang those dark eggs are hard to see into!!! And from what I can see, all the other BCM eggs I got from debs_flock look like they're going good and the one OE I set from my darkest laying Blue Copper Marans is looking good too! So 22 out of 24 are doing something but maybe 3 or 4 quit from the shipped, oh, and I'm pretty sure I set one upside down!!!!! It's actually developed nice and I can clearly see the air cell...it's a nice rounded shape Marans egg shape but what should I do with it? I left it, tilted a bit. Will it have trouble pipping?

For those of you who use leg bands, where do you get them and what kind do you prefer? I need to order right away. I need to band so I know where the chicks came from, Sunny or Deb. So much easier making EE's!

One last question....I have one chick from my last hatch that'll be just under 4 weeks when these chicks hatch. Do you think they can go together? I kept this OE plus two late hatching, weak chicks but both those two died. Now we're parents to a lone chick who thinks its best friend is our Springer Spaniel puppy!

I'd sure like to put them together (the new chicks, not the Springer puppy), the OE's too small for the big chickens but is she going to be too big for the new ones?

Ok I lied, I have another question....does anyone know if you can change your screen name w/o adding a new account? In the search it said the moderators could but it was a 2010 post so before the new format. I wanted to change to my farms name. I picked this name, the name of one of our roosters, when I was frantically creating an account after I lost all my chickens to a predator attack and had questions..imagine me having questions!!

You all are probably off at the after hours thread, I'll probably have to wait until tomorrow for replies! LOL

Maybe there's hope that my lone 3 1/2 week old OE will want to mother the new BCM's???

So not to change the subject, but you are in Paradise and have Blue Copper Marans? I haven't had good luck with my shipped Blue Copper Marans Eggs. Did you get the Blue Copper Maran locally? Sorry to be off subject...Sound like an exciting hatch is coming your way! Best of luck to you :)!
