California - Northern

Thanks, but only check around if you want you, so don't feel pressured. =)
There has to be someone, there were quite a few shown at the Red Bluff show, one went Reserve of Breed. I'm not sure who owned them, I only raise barred and black, but I can check around for you if you'd like.

Well, I have Columbians, but only in LF.

Lol. I didn't get it either but that was rather funny. I was thinking Rue McClanahan???? So wasn't getting it!

wanna know a coincidence? My California Grey is named Blanche after Rue McClanahan's character in The Golden Girls. When I ordered the CA Greys I was going to keep 3 and they were going to be Blanche, Rose and Sophia. I already have Dottie so Dorothy was out. It's not that I was a huge fan of the show , though I did watch it from time to time,it's just that they are Grey so I was trying to think of names that went along with that. Rose is one of the EEs

OK chicken geneticists....Since a NH or an RIR over a barred rock makes a black sex link...do you think that a NH over my little chocolate barred rock will produce a brown sex link?

The choc rock is feather sexable if that makes a difference.

Della seems 100%. Would you keep her isolated until she lays an egg? She hasn't since Thurs or Fri. She complains loudly about being cooped up. Her poops are normal she is eating her comb is back up where it ought to be and her crop feels normal.

Thanks for all of the help healing her. I hope the internal laying thing is not an issue with her but at least now I know what to watch out for.

I would think so. The part of the equation that makes them sexable is the barring factor. That is a separate gene from what controls the base color (black, blue, red, lemon, chocolate, etc barring).

If she seems fine otherwise, I'd turn her back out with the flock.

I would put her back tonight. Keep an eye on her though.

It might be a couple of weeks for egg laying to start again.

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to not be dealing with the heat during chores, but I thought the rain was only supposed to be yesterday. Today was only supposed to be a chance of showers. I'm going to wait on the bulk of my outside chores until this afternoon, hoping things dry out, but I HAVE to go feed the sheep, open up a couple of brooder sheds and turn the turkeys out of their nighttime pen. I am ready for DH to get home from AZ. He does all the outside chores normally except the ones I WANT to do

I realize I'm spoiled, but I like it that way!

Last night when I locked up, I could see three turkey eggs in their shelter, but I looked at the "mud" I'd have to walk through and thought......................"oh, I'll get those tomorrow", LOL And now it rained all night. I'll need to wear barn boots, ick!
