On rooster gonads:

There is a fight to see what animal gets them at our house.
The cats chase each other for them. The dog chases the cats for em. The chickens chase each other. The quail try and escape to get them.

Apparently they are tasty......

You have to have huavos to win the huavos!
Would be fun to watch at least. I can't even eat my own chickens yet much less select parts.

We could get 50 different grey/blue birds and call it.....50 shades of Grey.....
Blue sky overhead this morning, of course they are talking about thunder and lightening with it.

The quail are such little caracters! I hope the male figures it oit, he tends to trot along side the girls while hanging on to their head feathers, or if they stop he runs right over the top to them.

I'm feeding 21 & 28% protein, dried meal worms as treats. I give them small seeds from parakeet mix as treats also. They have oyster shell that I sprinkle in their sand box. Is there something I'm missing?

A couple of them have taken to laying in the shavings in their hide, makes egg collection a game of hide and seek. It may change but 1 is giving me a sea foam green egg with no spota.
Picture of the green egg please.

What a handsome guy! I sure wish I could have roosters. One day.......................
Funny how i thought I didn't want one and then when Ray died I saw the difference he had made and wanted another asap

He is a pretty boy......

I think the pullets all have crushes
Beautiful rooster!
Wouldn't he look great in the black and white flock. Wonder what he and a Lakenvelder would produce...Maybe I will find out

Km, capayvalleychick, is his breeder and brooder. Ron is his hatcher I am just so pleased with his looks...no idea about SOP but he is eye candy.
See, I can hatch out Roosters!

Kim has some Braden Line Delawares so I think that is one. He does look very nice too.

Kim is switching to Kathy in Mo New Heritage Delawares and I can't wait to hatch some of those for her!

I can't wait to get some of the Kathy in Mo culls from Kim :)

Ron Mottled Javas are available at Sandhill. Am I naive in assuming that they wouldn't be outcrossing them? Is that even the right word? What I mean is breeding them with other breeds as a lot of hatcheries do.

be careful with SandHill if you are looking for quality. You will get pure breeds but they are not selecting for type generally.
usually egg laying or egg color
