You know, I have a friend who lives in San Jose and just bought a house up here so they're commuting back and forth. She messaged me that she would be here this weekend. I'm sure I could get her to haul a roo for me.....if you take two!

Just kidding.....or not if it worked!
Wow that would be excellent! I want to keep louie 4th too ( have to love the louie line, he was the BEST FLOCK ROOSTER EVER!) so I dont know if I can do 2 boys. Let me know if this will work!

I got my eggs this morning from Catdance Silkies!

They arrived in excellent shape. No detached air cells and she sent 30!

These are the colors she sent . . . 7 Porcelain, 6 white, 5 Lavender/Split, 4 Buff, 3 Blue/Splash, 3 Paint, 2 Splash. Good thing I have a bantam broody. I am not sure they will all fit in my 24 egg Octagon 20.

Good luck with your hatch!

we had trouble with the p and L eggs in the one Im doing. So put those in whatever you thought is the sturdiest one for the best hatch chance imo

How funny. What price do you ask for barnyard mix chicks? I will probably have a bunch at some time and I'm curious both how you word your add and what you charge. Also do you just do a straight run?

I hear marans are good eating.

Hoping these javas have personality too. I was drawn to them because they are dual purpose and described as being calm, sweet and good foragers. I am going to get over my reluctance to process and keep boys for the table.

I feel like if I can process someone else's bird first I should be able to do my own. I just don't want to practice on someone I hatched from an egg.

If you end up not wanting the Javas for some reason but like the coloring, the Pita Pintas are also dual purpose birds that are calm, sweet, and have lots of personality. Megan says that they crank out the eggs!

Also, if anyone is interested in a processing workshop, we are processing roos this Saturday at my friend's farm in Brentwood. We are starting at 9 and should be done by 1 or 2. Drop me a PM if you want more information.

Hi, I also have 2 FBCM cockerels (of course) that need to go if anyone wants them, let me know! I'm in Modesto.

What color eggs do the Pita Pinta's lay?

TONS of cockerels here too. Narrowing down in the yard, stocking the freezer this weekend.
