And thanks everyone for the warm welcome! ^_^ We're painting today, adding a vintage trailer to our Airbnb listings. The dinette looks over the coop and garden, so guests can eat breakfast and enjoy chicken theater. When we have eggs, we'll be offering them to our guests, which I guess makes the chickens a business expense.

So it seems like this is the right reference to the test here, last one on the bottom.

Sorry to be so slow at this but there are a lot of moving parts to this process. I would need to fill out the following form:

http://www.cahfs.ucdavis.edu/local-assets/pdfs/StandardSubmissionForm_6-13.pdf

To the following address?

Central Reference Laboratory
CAHFS - Receiving
UC Davis
620 W. Health Sciences Drive
Davis, CA 95616

Is that the correct address? I know you have posted it before but I couldn't find it in the millions of posts on this thread and I am just challenged enough I couldn't get Drop Box to work!

The test was:

FECAL EXAM - FLOTATION 1 $10.50
Total for this Report:
Total for Case: $10.50

I asked them to test for Cocci too:

Very low numbers of Coccidia oocysts detected from fecal sample submitted. No Nematode eggs identified.
L a b o r a t o r y F i n d i n g s / D i a g n o s i s
Treated with Ivermectin on 1/6/13. Checking to see if treatment worked.
C l i n i c a l H i s t o r y
P a r a s i t o l o g y
Animal/Source Specimen Specimen Type
FECAL EXAM - FLOTATION

Darn my link didn't work. That was the test that I had searched and found and thought I linked to on the website. So thanks for verifying it.
Just out of curiosity, did you treat them for the Coccidia?

I did give them Corid. I should probably give them corid once a month.

Happy poo collecting tomorrow!

Love to see some pictures.

Sold our Splash OE rooster! We give him to his new dad tomorrow. I'm actually really sad. We've been back and forth wether or not to keep him or our English Orpington rooster.

Sold him dirt cheap, but at least I know he'll have 16 hens (instead of sharing 6 with 2 other roos) and he'll be local. Although I hope he lives a long life to enjoy him, the guys last rooster (who he said didn't even crow) got eaten defending the flock.
That is a sign of a great rooster. Losing a boy to a predator says that he died protecting his flock. Sad, but everything you want in a rooster.

My OE cockerel sliced himself up somehow. Either he got his head stuck in the fence or he got in a big fight with another rooster. He's got a 3 inch or so long slice in his neck and I found the flock picking at his wounds, so I separated him. Now it looks like infection has set in and he's swollen on his neck and head. I wasn't keeping him anyway (growing him out for Camp Kenmore) but I still hate to see them wounded. So now I'll probably be putting him down. I've been spraying his wounds with Vetericyn and he's still actively eating/drinking. But they hide pain so well, it's hard to know.

I thought you guys might like this... It made me laugh out loud!!!!

Quote: One thing I learned from a friend - once you have cocci in your flock, if you have ANY area that is consistently damp, it will live there for a long time.

We have a vintage trailer. Just went to a Rally in Petaluma last weekend.

Would love to see pictures!

hey everyone.
Just got home from an extra surprise overnight. What a night to be gone. Mario had to pick up chickens from the USPS ( they all escaped this morning and were running around the garage, so q is not as tight as id like, lol) AND all the eggs we set up after the attack hatched out early. I got a marek's vaccine to try and vaccinate everyone, and I was going to cut it into 1/4. However, the whole thing is liquid and I'm not sure if it is going to be possible to accurately dilute it.

I also thought I would try ordering duck feed for the ducks.. HOLY CRAP! it is 3x as expensive as the reg low protein pellets at almost 50 a bag. They wouldn't let me switch it either :(. Usually they are very accommodating since i refer a lot of people, but she gave me the stink eye on that one.

Now, for you people who are semi calm about politics ( if you are not calm, read no further!) I have been having this crazy cartoon in my head for some reason.
Picture the little stick figures of terrance and phillip from South park . IM imagining a web page with a little obama head on the top of one of these called...

Obama? or a serama? ( this has to be sing song or it dosn't rhyme!)

The little Serema head would be on the other body.

Now imagine it with pictures
is it obma? ( insert) or a serama? ( insert) Serema? Obama? ( insert insert)

you can work in pajamas in there too... In fact if you know Australians cartoons this is best done to the theme song of Bananas in Pajamas...

ok back to your regularly scheduled programing..
