It is sad to not get eggs!

I collected 7 eggs today and 12 with one broken one today. I do have lights on in the big coup.

no lights here, i don't have electricity down by the coop -- will be interested to see how long they keep up the laying, and whether any more teens start before winter really sets in...

My new brooder is complete! I have had a wood shipping box for almost a year I have been meaning to turn into a quail brooder. I unscrewed a panel, put in a support for the mesh covers, put wheels on it, set up the ceramic heat lamp, water, food etc, and transfered all my not quite yet ready for prime time chicks into it.

Then my phone went insane and started turning off every 15 min and I had to spend 3 hrs trying to navigate the insurance claim. They cant send me the same phone, i'm so bummed. alas Nexus, you were a high quality software product, but the worst actual mechanical device I have ever owned....

Now to see if I can find the hidden waterlox for tomorrow!

We will see pictures as when the Tech starts working?

I have been working on enclosing an area for the quail and pigeons this winter. I put concrete piers under the rotting foundation, cut out the dry rot and sistered in pressure treated wood and re-plumbed the side supports, moved a door to the other end... I hung the greenhouse plastic today.

All the talk of quail today and something just hit me. Both pens are to big to get through the door! I guess I'll be taking down part of the plastic to get them inside.

whole thing ( no one is useing the new 2 bar roosting system yet!) If it does not need heat, I can do 2 pieces of the plastic netting. Otherwise the ceramic heat lamp is on the wire screen to avoid meltdowns and oopses.

IM hoping that is not a problem for me! lol.

I'm only getting 3 eggs a day from 15 or so chickens, including my 3 Serama hens. I'm sure you have more than that but I still feel your pain lol.

Yep, I got ya beat on number of chickens. They must have heard me complaining, cuz I got 5 today. I sure wish he new girls would start laying!

My 2 yr old granddaughter is sitting on my lap right now. She keeps saying over and over again, "Bok! Bok! I am a chicken!" and then laughing at herself. It is cute! She just told me, "That is so funny!"

That looks like a very nice Brooder!
