California - Northern

Have Chiqita send them to me when you are ready. I am looking for eggs to hatch for the NYD hatch a long--I need to set them on Dec. 11.

I hope I will be able to committ to this but I don't know yet. Hopefully though

There were frizzled Ameraucanas being offered a year or more ago either on BYC or Ebay. Sorry I can't remember. You may want to try googling those to see if you can find them. They were LF if memory serves me right.
Thanks I will look for some to give to a broody when I have another proven one.

And the nice thing about Bresse is they show their sex very early. Those combs grow fast on the boys! They also crow early, at least mine do!

That is good news!

Showgirls were bred by crossing a LF NN to Sillies - so they are related to LF...

I am sorry about Nutmeg - it sounds like she is being very bad.  It took a bit of translation to figure out what you said... but I am glad you filled in the hole and saved the one that almost froze.  My chicks think its a game to get out of holes and then get picked on by the chickens on the other side of that hole...

Is that a case of the grass is greener on the other side of the whole?

Hey guys! How's everyone been?

Our flock is doing well. Still waiting for our EE to lay and one of the hatchery wyandottes.

Guess what we got!? Two goats, and they're both pregnant! Ahhhhh, it's true what they say, it's ALL the chicken's fault!

What kind of goats? I was looking just the other day where I could buy some goats milk to make goat cheese but cant find any. :/
:weee

Goat Cheese!

That is great to hear. Thanks for checking in. Are the chickens showing signs of being ready to lay eggs yet?

Exactly Goat Cheese!

Gateway livestock! Next thing you know youll be the mayor of torento.
I forgot to show you a picture of ny new fosters!

I gad to put tgem in a covered cage cause they were climbing out. One is still climbing on the top of the dog kennel upside down. They are circus kittens I say.

What? You arent busy enough? You foster kittens too? They are cute! Boys? Girls?

I didn't think it was so long ago that people were talking about deer, but I managed to get 90+ posts behind, so this is probably an old topic...

Anyway, I was going to post some pictures of the deer I saw in India, but needed to be on a computer with the pictures.

Sambar deer, one of the largest deer:

Chital deer:

But Bambi, how do you have antlers and spots?! It was strange to see spots on an adult deer.

The most exciting animal I saw in Ranthambhore National Park though, was this one:

Debs_flock, Jason and others have ordered from Sandhill. Order asap and expect to wait. It seems like they have a tendency to send substitutes too.

I bet Deb has some stories to share.

SandHill is a preservation hatchery--Their stock is at best OK.
yes I waited about 10 months I think. I ended up with 3 pretty good black penedesenca

neat pics

Ooohhh....That would be great too! My sister is in Penn Valley and I may be visiting her soon. How much would you want for them? The buff sounds great. I can't have roos so would not be worried about breeding them, but really would like one I know is a hen. This is my one EE that I am being toold looks like a Roo. He/she is about 32 weeks now though and has not shown much comb developemnt and does not behave like a Roo. No crowing, seems to be low on the pecking order, does not seem to allow the known hens to eat or show them the food. It just grabs some and runs. I prefer blue eggs but green would be fine. It sounds like Pam is right her in my town so let me see if she has anything. If not I think I can work something out with you.....

Congrats on the goats, what breed? I have a goat share for milk with a lady between you and me.

It really wasn't that long ago we were talking about deer, was it? This thread just moves so fast sometimes.

Boy, I am GLAD we don't have deer that big (or cats either) over here - my poor fruit trees would be gone.

The spots are cammo, so I would say if they are always in dappled sunlight it would hide them better than the solid colors. But you are right, it is odd to see dappling on an adult.
