Inspired by our wonderful photographers and their lovely birds, I bring you "dirty birds" Featuring some of my Dels and friends after the first rain of fall. Keep in mind these are not supposed to be laced. But snowy white with black barring

Clockwise from top Dottie, Ozzie, Harriet, Chicka Boom Boom and Buckbeak...see her red sore wing bows

Della...whutcha doin???

Della sporting her winter head smudge.

I feel good about chicken management today. Buckbeak... my over mated girl... removed that saddle you can see in the pic treated her bows with a purple Rooster Booster goo that is supposed to heal and stop pecking. Kept her away from Ozzie and gave her a high protein snack in a dog crate while he was out ranging. Ordered her a new apron

Della seemed back to normal no additional discharge vent looked normal

Let Jamie Lee Curtis and Joan Baez out this p,m, and they put themselves away tonight.

Chickens are funny there seems to always be something going on. The more you have the more you have going on :)

Awe their cute! The boy is super handsome.

I am thinking about getting White Faced Black Spanish chicks, and since they are not sexed, will have to order at least twice as much. When are you planning to place the order?

Lual

I plan on ordering in January for a mid February to March shipment. I think Deanne @juststruttin will place the order for your area. She is much closer to you.

*howling* wind here in sonoma county -- hoping the chickens are all hunkered down in their coops for the night!

Here Norma is in her flowerpot. Flattened out and stuck. I lifted her out and carried her over to where the rest of the flock was snacking and she blew herself up and did that puffed up bucbucbucbuc thing...sigh she can't nest in the flowerpot safely. Any advice?
Move the flower pot into the coop? I know, I'm evil. (Snicker)

This wind blows! Ha ha. Literally!

I got home from work and my barbeque had blown off my patio down 3 cement steps..... That had to make a heck of a racket. I also have a very wet run floor to deal with this weekend. I ordered some expanding sand bags off Amazon so I can stop the rain from running in, but the shavings are pretty soggy.

Yesterday was my first 5 egg day. Today made up for it with only one egg! I have some great color eggs. Way more variation in color than I was expecting. Still waiting for my blue one though.......

I am wonderin if the strange windy wet weather is scaring the birds a bit? Things falling and crashing all around Soggy bedding..... Maybe?
