Well interesting evening! We got woken up at 2 am buy a bunch of police in our front yard.

The neighbors about 4 doors down and one of their drunk house guests slammed into their car and spun out down our hill.

There was a huge truck in our yard. It took out our fence and a few small trees and abandoned the car. I guess we will find out if it's covered by home owners insurance.

I'm amazed the accident was as bad as it was and whomever the driver was was able to get put of the car and abandon it.

We did not hear the accident but the dog went nuts when the tow truck guys and police came into the driveway. " get the cops" sounds almost like "get the racoons" in rufas speak.

I will post a picture in the morning . Or in the reasonable morning.

I'm very happy now that Mrs bowman planted all those pink trees. He would have slid right into the garage.

If they caused the accident their automobile insurance should pay for it. It's kind of interesting that you posted this because I am *still* up because of assorted drunken and other noisiness in my neighborhood tonight. Good for Rufus.

Today we got the first olive eggs from Jason's (Hangtown Farms) OE!! It's so pretty and dark. I'm glad these girls are finally laying!!

I'm so glad nobody was hurt and the damage wasn't more extensive to your house.

That is scary! Good thing you do not have coops there.

Wow! Yes their auto insurance should cover the cost. It is part of the min. requirement to cover property damage. Hopefully they have insurance....

Ok so all in the same hatch here's who's laid first and who's still holding out.
1. Jubilee orps
2. Isabel orps
3. Langshans
Still to come
Partridge brahmas
Gold lace orps
Barnevelders
Come on guys! :) so much fun! I'm learning a lot about how to see signs of readiness for laying. I've been checking their pelvic bones and also watching their face color...and behavior.

Once the jubilees started I could not believe how fast their combs grew! Amazing!

@PetRock and @capayvalleychick !

My Crele Rooster that I am using with the Amelias(Cream Legbar x Crele Penedesenca) lost his Rooster Collar this morning. My Middle Daughter said: That is a Loud Rooster! Which one is that!

So they are quieter with the collar.

Hint: They are easy to make. I am going to get my Oldest Daughter to rebuild these and sew them instead of glue them.

Wow! That could have been worse! I live by the freeway, & a drunk driver went through our chain link fence & almost into our garage! Drunk drivers.....need to not drive...

Thats a good 15-20 feet down and 20 feet or so in. About 1/2 way down our hill.
Goodbye fence, goodbye stairs, goodbye lettuce garden...

The guys who were towing it out were attaching the chains and I said " goodbye broccoli" he thought he was stepping on one and I said no, it the car. Heo looked down and was " oh yeah!"
There was smashed broccoli everywere.

If it was going to happen anywhere on our street, this was the best place.

The police said they are unlikely to be able to charge anyone since they can't prove who was driving. They ran away and left the car on our hill.

Can you post a picture of one? I'm really interested in making one and trying it out.
