I saw that you are looking for Serama eggs for your broody. If you can't find any I can give you some of the first eggs laid by one of my d'Anver pullets. I have no idea if they are fertile or what colors you would get, but they should be cute. The pullets are SUPER friendly and want to be lap chickens

@capayvalleychick Hey Kim. In the interest of knowing where my food comes from, I was wondering if you ever raised either the cattle of the hogs at your place then allowed someone else to buy them at processing time. I might be able to get a few families together who are willing to do to share a steer and a hog or more.
@tommysgirl I have sold beef, lamb & pork on the hoof. I have humane slaughter done here and it is taken to a cut & wrap. Buyer pays per pound, based on hanging weight + butcher and cut & wrap fees. Buyer picks it up at the cut & wrap facility.

Since I don't have any green grass due to the drought, and the skyrocketing prices of feed, I don't think that I'm going to sell finished pork at this time. I do sell weaned feeder pigs (AGH) that you can raise up yourself. I have some youngsters now that could be whole BBQ pigs or quartered for roasting or grown out. AGH are much easier to raise than commercial hogs but they do take a long time to grow out.
Most of my Dexter steers yield about 400 lbs. of beef. I have one steer, who is ready to be butchered now, that was sired by a small bull. He will probably only yield about 200 lbs, maybe a little more, and the cuts will be smaller than usual. I had heifers born this year, so it will be a couple years before I have another steer for sale.
I have a couple SC wethers that are about ready to butcher, too.

Thanks for asking!

Hi Juststruttin...I'm another BYC enabler like the rest if this group. I have 2 mini pigs: Charlotte and Wilbur

They actually contribute to the farm by being my "cleanup crew". They eat the weeds and all the fruit that has fallen from the trees. They come running when called and love to have their bellies scratched. And they leave no mess; only relieving themselves on the property.
Adorable. We had a potbelly named Piggy Sue. She was so sweet and loved to be scratched. She died over 6 years ago and I think I am ready for another pig or two. My husband is less enthusiastic.

@capayvalleychick If you give me a week I think I could could put together a few families to purchase your steer. Can you PM me if you are interested and include your per pound price and any details I might need to pass along to my co-buyers?
