also related to the bumblefoot thing. I did not lance it or dig around. Though picked the scab off of it the first day I soak her foot in warm water and epsom salts for 10 min a day, gob on Neosporin and wrap it up and it doesn't seem to have rescabbed and it seems to be shrinking. when I squeeze it nothing comes out. What else should I be doing?
And on a more positive chicken note I am going to try to hatch some bantams and I am thinking cochins...BBS, mottled, frizzled. Does anyone have them?
And another question...what in the sam hill do you think could be up with my 2013 pen...I was getting 5-7 for 7 every day for the 10 days after Christmas then, just like that 2-3 a day. I have got nothing from my Icelandics or my Polish x Dorking in a week and only like 2 from my Amelia and she is normally a daily layer. The Califonia Grey and Easter Eggers are the only ones still producing.
Joan Baez, the older of the two Dorking girls lays pretty much every other day and her egg is a very nice size. She is funny...very talkative and always under foot but still shies away. Jamie Lee Curtis is getting friendlier too. I do like a hen who gives me the time of day.
