Ok, I was VERY proud of my husband today. We went to Costco and there was a kids little wooden playhouse. He said "hey that would make a great chicken coop! Just put some chicken wire on the windows and you're set!"
Love him!

I'm looking for a coop for meaties. I want something separate for them.

Nice pictures Ron.

I have business cards, tatoo's and bumper stickers - but no badges.

Are you going to the Stockton Show? I'll be there.
I am not going to be able to go to the Stockton show this year. I having a family get together for our daughter's birthday.

Ok, so I will look for a car in the parking lot with lots of bumper stickers (chicken related?) you will have to pin a business card to your shirt, but I need a description of those tatoo's

Yes! But didn't someone say they thought silkies weren't actually chickens ;)

I know, me too. I have so many plans but have to be careful about laying them all out. If I did I would spook my husband for sure. He did get me the plywood for another coop. It will be small but since it will be visible to passers by he wants it to look nice. Fine by me, I like cute coops

Marans are not known as great layers. The thought is that they lay big dark eggs so it takes longer to produce them for the hens.

I do not completely agree. I think you could breed for production and get them laying more.
Oh I just saw this. That is good news if I could breed for production. I too, heard the darker eggs move slower. These girls laid early for their breed . Born last April, laid in mid Sept. I'm putting a light out for the mornings now. It's just frustrating because I had Marans I thought lay better than these and they're such pretty birds !!
