Hi all, I'm from Sonora, CA but used to live in N CA most of my life in Happy Camp. I'm with you pullet, hen, rooster or cockerel.

I have some U of A Blue's coming this spring and also some Norwegian Jaerhon's that lay white eggs and are autosexing. Thinking that may make an interesting cross....I'm trying to figure a pen for penedesencas, CL and U of A Blue's. I am leaning toward a CL male then I can also breed straight CL too. I figure just a couple of these breeds. Then one pen for extra roos, a new pen for bresse and I SHOULD be done adding chickens and pens.
I actually did not start that thread, the BYC staff did. BYC Staff wanted to respect Bob Blosl by locking the original thread he started. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/400344/bob-blosls-heritage-large-fowl-thread@juststruttin
Do you ever post on the new Heritage thread Phase II that you started?
It seems to be going well now.
the only thing with keeping pure Legbars in there with the Crele Penedesenca is the roosters look close and you don't want to keep a breeder that is not pure .Now if you have a separate run thats one thing. Just make sure to hatch them separatelyI have a question for those with the penedesenca OE cross: Does it really matter if the penedesenca is a …cock bird (political correctness here) or hen? I figured it does not, but I am wrong on occasion. I'm trying to figure a pen for penedesencas, CL and U of A Blue's. I am leaning toward a CL male then I can also breed straight CL too. Oh yes!Post an add with that word on craigslist and watch out, LOL. I am dreading a phone call in the near future from the elementary school office about " bad language" from my kids. That four letter "word" would be totally misunderstood when said by a child in a school setting.![]()

Just use Rooster.I can't do "cock bird" ... It's "cockerel" or "rooster" to me.

We are going but we might have 2 issues. One if I'm taking 10 breese we might not have room and we will smell. 2 I get there at opening so we leave before dawn. Three I'm going to look for economy food on the way back so we will be stopping at feedstores. I'm not sure about the trip being fun for you. Oh and we have to stop at lodi on the way home.
Are we still meeting at the snack bar at 11?
