I put my eggs in the incubator 1/13/14 in the evening. Tomorrow is day 18. Should I do lock down tomorrow eve? Or wait till the next evening due to what I just read?

The other thing is I added some Serama eggs ( I got them from Chiqita at the Stockton show hooray)7 days ago. The others eggs were at day 11. I'm not sure how to go about this all. Do I just not turn them while the other eggs are in lockdown. They are on a turner now.

Also should I raise the wire to the level the turner is so the temp stays the same for the eggs?

I would put them in lockdown tomorrow night or the next am, depending on if you get pips or not. The seramas should be fine not turning for 3 days, just start again once you pull your chicks out. How are the eggs doing?

Are you hatching and incubating in the same incubator? If so, wait until you hear chirping or you see the first pip to raise humidity.

Remove the turner during hatch and then return it after the hatch. The extra humidity for a couple of days will not hurt them. You do not need to raise the screen.

wait, everything else i've read says raise humidity at day 18 -- but i'm supposed to wait til chirping or pips? in my two previous hatches, i've never seen/heard either til day 21...?

For staggered hatching in the same incubator you do this to minimize the time without turning and extra humidity.

You can also candle to see if they have internally pipped. They usually internally pip on day 19 to 20. It really does not hurt them usually to wait until you see the first pip to raise humidity. It actually helps for Dark eggs that have small air cells--Marans and Penedesencas.
