Thanks everyone. I'll try the yogurt and pull the light back a bit
I've also read that giving them some sand or chick grit can help. Of course, you can find all kinds of advice on the web! Some of it works and some of it doesn't!

Is the humidity system just an automatic thing? If I don't get the system how does it come? Oh man I'll just have to call him haha. Thank you for your help
It is basically a 5 gallon bucket that is connected by a hose to a pan that sits in the incubator. The pan has a floatation device and water is syphoned in as needed. The humidity system is just a fancy name and it seems silly to pay $35 for it, but it is well worth the peace of mind in the end.

combination of white and brown -- and hasn't made any progress in 5 hours, although it IS still moving around now and then.

and hey! there was a little tiny isthmus of membrane that was holding the two halves of shell pretty closely together still -- i was able to nudge that slightly, so that it parted, and rolled the egg on its side instead of sitting upright -- and now the baby is chirping more and moving more, hoping it will find its way out now.

THANK YOU!!

Good Job!

thanks to you guys!

early-morning update: the marans is out of its shell and all fluffed up, and has been joined by a blue isbar chick, who's still trying to figure out how its legs work, but should be standing soon -- and there are pips started on one more of each kind of egg. hooray!
