California - Northern

My daughters and I went to the show in Ferndale today, in the hopes of buying some chickens. None of the birds for sale were breeds I was looking for. Well, except for cockerals, roosters, and pairs

and chicks, but since I don't have anywhere to brood anything (so tempted, though)... I was a bit bummed to listen to "Are we there, yet?" for 2 hours and then bring nothing but a free calendar home, but, oh, well. The temporary temporary pen in the garage will have to be taken down,

but at least I hadn't gotten the quarantine pen finished yet...

I let my girls (10 and nearly 5--her birthday's next weekend) decide who to take pictures of (well, I chose the splash Jersey Giant) so I don't necessarily remember who was what... Looks like the colors and sheen on a lot of the birds didn't come through

I didn't realize call ducks were so tiny and adorable! Must not get, must not get, must not get... Even if they're the perfect size for our tiny fish pond. We're in a neighborhood, not out in the country, and call ducks are loud, right? Since that's the whole reason for their existence?

Paint Silkie

Black Langshan

Partridge Wyandotte?

Splash Jersey Giant

New Hampshire?

"I'm related to a chicken?

" said my older daughter (our last name is Pawloski)

Puffball! Frizzle Cochin

Sumatra, plus older daughter's hand and younger daughter's head.

lol they don't say that on the incubator anonymous thread. I don't know about that thread lol

We all assume that the place we live in is like all other places.

Too low humidity is just as bad as too high. There is a range of about 30 to 50% that works for the first 18 days. Going below or above causes problems. The best thing to do is to follow the hatch chart or measure weight loss. 35% works well for me.

My little Splash is something else. She's the most skittish of my flock but still comes running every time she sees me, expecting food.

I Spy Charlotte the Light Brahma...and in the background, a crazy Splash Andalusian sprinting towards me

Comb and wattles flapping in the wind as she continues to sprint towards me lol...

And of course, when she discovered that I was holding a camera, not food, she dramatically walked off into the rain. I swear she tries to make me feel guilty.

This is amazing! You should get an award for this series.

OMG...I should have known you before now!!!

I've owned 7 Wranglers. Hence, the "Jeepchick" name. My last one was a custom ordered 2012 JKUR with a manual tranny and 4:10's, front stubby bumper, Rock
Crawler rails. Unfortunately, I sold it 4 months ago. I fell in love with a Subaru Crosstreck that gets 33 MPG but still has semetrical AWD. I will come back to Jeep after I get my daughters through school and don't need something with good gas mileage.

The toy we have now is a 2014 RAM 4x4 Quad cab with the 5.7 HEMI.

Sorry everyone, I'm a car nut. Done hijacking the thread now. Carry on!!!

We gotta get you back into a jeep even with your Scooby Roo. I know the President of the CA Automobile Dismantlers Association. Who also happens to own J&W Auto Wreckers who only deals with Jeeps. I want to say there are something like 1300+ Jeeps at their yard. I can get screaming deals on them all day long. Oughta build up a YJ...like mine hehe

Sorry to hijack..lol

Thank you all. I wasn't thinking. Sometimes my compassion takes away my common sense.
Wendy you are good! Plus you you have great taste in vehicles. My dream car now that my kids are up and mostly out is a Jeep 4 door Removable hardtop Rubicon.

9 eggs today! that means only 8 girls are slacking :) I have a late...or is it early now... molter so she has a pass and a summer hatch EE who has never laid a thing yet so I am letting her off the hook too. Anyway I am glad I am getting more than 3.

This is the first rain of the first winter where I have had more than 7 chickens and 1 pen...It's MESSY!

Do you have only the one of each? There could be a problem with one or the other. If they are fully formed and don't hatch, humidity could be the problem. I'm not expert on hatching though. I think if it's too high they can drown right before hatch.

I do only have one of each...
