Same here. Mine just started laying in early Janauary, but already seem to be slacking. Can anyone tell if they look like they might be molting already. These are my 4...

They don't look like they are molting to me. Most of mine haven't even started laying again yet & I am in Turlock in the central valley.

Wholy cow I must sound like that came from left field. I cannot believe how long this thread is and it started back in 2007. OMG. Person I was responding to, probably doesn't even post here anymore.
Well I thought it was funny anyway!!
We have been in the top ten busiest threads again. We were number three one day last week. We must have a bunch of very important chicken things to talk about!
Or something.... But we talked corid and showgirls so it is a good day.

Beautiful girls! My new marans girl his in the coop this evening. I did not see her so I spent an hour looking for her. I'm covered from head to foot in mud. She was unimpressed with me evil little thing.

No worries. Many of us make posts that seem to come out of nowhere. It took me a month to quote and reply right. It takes a little getting used to.

Quote: Thanks! My AM's are always first to head for the coops. Some of the marans and my BO always has to be "encouraged" to head in if I go out to lock up before it gets dark. They all eventually end up there at dusk, but I always have to look in the coop to make sure they made it and are not malingering somewhere and end up getting locked out.

Such a sweet sound….my husband is turning an old horse stall into a coop! I suggested we put chicken wire on the front. His idea: board it up and add a run. Even better!!
