Take it easy!! I had the opposite problem, all my babies were way late. Hopefully you little one will stay in there until it's time.
So- an Update of my chicken code violation:
I went to the Citrus Heights City Council meeting last night. I was able to to stand up and give my little chicken presentation to the City Council. I made copies of my letter with my picture, and they were handed out to the council members, and put in the record. They told me that this was an issue that has come up before, and they weren't opposed to looking at changing the code. The put it on their calendar of items. After it was over the Head of code enforcement (who happened to be at the meeting) introduced himself, and we were able to have quite a long conversation about it. He received my email, and told me that technically at this point, (from his perspective) he has to follow the code until the city council tells him otherwise. He said he understands my position, and suggested that I find a temporary place for them until the re-inspection (that they are required to do) is done, and this kind of blows over. I told him that I would really like to avoid even temporarily re-homing them, and he said (kind of cryptically) to talk to Officer Leah Buck (the officer who originally wrote the violation), and see what we can work out. I really hope the City Council makes it a priority.
On a happier note,
I got my eggs from Papa Brooder this morning, and they are in the 'bator. So I have 6 (of my own eggs), on day 12, and 4 Lavender Orp, 4 Lemon Cuckoo Orp, and 28 Silkie/Sizzle/Frizzle eggs that just went it.
