California - Northern

So they are on day 11 today and I hope to get them transferred today. It sounds like this would be a good time to use it. I am so nervous about transferring them!

Make sure the temperature is correct and you should be good to go.

I have got it set up and stabilizing. It is sooo much mor "sophisticated" that the old foam ones. This one says it has the new "Cooling feature". Does anyone know much about this? Is this something I should use?
I love mine! It doesn't have the cooling feature, but I candle so much that the eggs get regular cool downs anyway!

Thanks! One more question.......then I will quit bugging you for now. I have them upright in an egg turner with the large end up now. Should I keep them in that position in the Brinsea or does it matter?
My Brinsea has a basket(two since it is a 40) with foam inserts and rails. I adjust the rails to hold the eggs with the foam inserts and then incubate the eggs big side up.

It was really nice to meet you too

Congrats! The cooling feature as I understand it is to mimic the mama hen getting up and taking her daily stroll. That is all I know. I covet your Brinsea.

LOL!!!! I have been making myself refrain from candling too much. I have only done so twice since I set them. I know the hens get off the eggs daily so it makes since that regular cooling would be good, but I have had so many people tell me not too. It seems to be very stable in temperature already, but I want get the humidity down a bit. It is at 43% but I have Marans eggs in there and had better luck with a drier hatch with those. I'm thinking around 30% until lockdown.

Went home to check my chick and it is spraddled. Like ballerina stretching on the floor spraddled. Poly Vi Solw/o iron and a brace? should I bring it to work with me and put it in a cup? Don't tell me to whip out the pruning shears. I swore I wouldn't assist a hatch and then take life saving measures. I didn't say I wouldn't try to correct spraddle

No pips in the other egg.

I am so glad my Tax refund was timed just right...otherwise I never could have justified the expense. My DH still doesn;t know about it though....

Hmmm...mine has the basket and the dividers (6 of them), but I did not see any foam inserts....I better go check the box.

Definitley no foam inserts and they are not listed on the list of what is in the box.. I might need to order some for the next hatch.

I don't see any on the Brinsea web site either. It sure seems like they would be easier to keep in position with the foam..
