All 7 of the OE chicks have hatched. Waiting on the only 6 out of 17 Lark Rise Ameraucana eggs that made it to lockdown to hatch. So far I have 3 that have pipped. The eggs were two days late due to the ice storm in Georgia, plus the post office really messed them up, so I am worried they will have trouble hatching

The waiting is killing me!

are they your Golden cuckoo? what are they crossed with? wonder if the 3 lighter ones are boys? or the 3 larger white head spots

So sorry about the silkie!

The little Silkie died.

. I'm just surprised she lasted as long as she did. What is wrong with this other chick? Is it spraddle leg? Is their anything I can do to fix it?

I just culled one like this a few days . I could not fix it

Ok my first hatch from my Seramas went really well! I put 19 eggs on lockdown and 15 hatched....4 didn't pip at all. One of the chicks hatched all sticky like covered in yolk? I tried to wash it off with warm water but feathers are still really stiff looking. Is there anything else I can do?

I just culled one like this a few days . I could not fix it

If the straddle leg is not too severe and I catch it within the first couple of days of hatch, I have been able to successfully treat it by hobbling it with bandaids. But if it is severe or develops after it is several days old, I have not been successful. I have one right now that has straddle leg and curled toes. She is holding her own in the brooder but my guess is that she won't make it. She hatched fine with no help and looked fine right after hatch. I didn't notice that she had a problem until around day 4 or 5. It seemed to be a progressive thing. I have been giving her vitamins, too, just in case it is a vitamin deficiency.

I have lots of eggs if you ever want to try some of mine

I get 100% hatches from my GCM and OE eggs. I have a friend that goes up to Redding the first of each month. I'm sure she wouldn't mind meeting you along the way

I have one getting ready to zip and two new pips. I am sure they will all start hatching at two in the morning again....

Don't worry about getting the goo off. It will dry and the fall off on it's own.

mine was bad. no helping it and it was getting trampled. hope she can save hers though.

I did think of trying the bandaid but no way on its poor legs

That looks like a hip joint deformity--I have not had one like that but have read that they do no heal. you will likely need to cull.

I have had that happen when the temp is too low I put them down.
