From what it said on the website, these are bigger, tougher pads that can be used for larger animals like dogs.  They are pretty pricey and they recommend that you buy a thermostat to go with the pad.  That puts the price for the one I was looking at up to around $200.  

for that price, why not just buy an EcoGlow or the other brand?  

That was sort of the conclusion we came to, but I still might consider it if I need something really big.

My black solider flies have not started breeding yet so my flies are terrible too!

Ugh! Let me know how they work for you.
I tried them one year when we had horses. For 3 horses, they needed you to buy a lot every 3 weeks. Or something like that which was a money pit.
Chickens shouldn't need that much. Hopefully it goes well for you

Mine are buzzing around the chicken run at about head level. If they are this bad now they will be intolerable by summer if I don't do something now..

Almost no flies here yet--Our big problem is in late august when the tomato harvest starts....

I have a 5 day old cockerel crowing! It is the cutest little screechy sound!
