This is probably the wrong group to ask, because they just go get eggs to hatch for their broodies, but...... is it possible that a broodie will never come out of it if they don't hatch or have a baby chick to mother?  Is it possible that they could stay broodie indefinitely?

My first silkie was broody for 3 months before she finally quit on her own. 《arg》
I would think it's possible to be permanently broody but that it would not happen often.

Hi! I just noticed you are from Fairfield! That is where I was living prior to moving up this way a couple of years ago. Hence the 707 in my name.

This broody is a Wheaten Ameraucana and she is at 6-7 weeks right now. Bah!!!

Quote: some browning in places maybe or color leakage. If you have a lemon cock he will stripe out his offspring cockerels. I have some close to white lemons one is for breeding the other is a spare. Will be din din most likely.

I had one break last year--she is an Amelia (Cream Legbar X Crele Pene) though.

They do not have to sit on eggs--you can give them a couple of chicks too. Even if she does not accept them it will break them.

Can you borrow a couple of just hatched or shipped chicks for a day?

Okay maybe this got lost but i kinda need to know "oKay question Bout moving chickens. I have a phoenix rooster that im going to mate with my silkies when theyare older. But would i be able to put him in with the 5 week olds? In a divided pen of course but qhere he can see them"

Hi Nikki -
I don't know what the personality of the phoenix roosters are. My Araucana roosters are good with baby chicks that have been raised by a broody. The divided pen is a good idea - it will get them used to each other. After a few days of that, maybe you can put them together briefly for "supervised visits" and see how that goes...

Yeah, I purchased the turner separately. it was $44. The total price was $207 (free shipping). It came with quail egg rails. I ordered it from Amazon, and ReptiPro is the company that fulfilled the order.

I love playing with the chicken calculator! It's my favorite toy. I am a geek.

Quote: I had the still air wafer ad a horrid hatch rate. I just bought one of these and my hatch rate was awesome!

Amazon little over $100 bucks. No turner though. I already had one. All you do is plug it in and put water in every other day.

You forgot the most important step. You must stand over it and stare into it several times a day, while thinking "aretheydoneyet?aretheydoneyet?aretheydoneyet?"
