Fantastic idea Ron.......I'll just boil up all these little eggs in lieu of having quail eggs & I will pickle them while I wait for my son's quail to start laying....How smart you are....LOL

When we moved from the Orchard and could not have chickens any more, I would go to my Grand Parents place and collect the Guinea eggs to eat.

The Guineas lived wild in a slough and made for a couple of years before Predators got them. They just showed up there one day.

The eggs were very tasty because they ate what was in the slough for food.

Well I am going to give them a try tomorrow.

Remember my hovabator temp spike to 108? Frantic drive to a friend with a cab bator and an available shelf? Transferred 40+ eggs. I can't remember, there were a few extra. Anyway, candled and took out clears, getting us down to 40 exactly. Had about 36 (they move too fast to count!) hatch.

That was a better hatch than the one I had before, when there was no temperature spike! To be fair, the hatch just before, the heater was probably having issues because we had cool hatch issues with pipping and dying in the shell.

I'm very excited about those numbers!

Having a bad hatch day, already. I had one hatch last night (this morning), and she was so sticky that I had to pry her off the egg carton. Just finished the early morning chick bubble bath. Poor thing feels much better now. I hope they all aren't like that.

Wouldn't you like to start your day with a bubble bath? Hope next ones are better for you.
I'm still waiting for my second phoenix pip to pop. I am starting to get worried about the d'Anvers, they were not as developed as the phoenix eggs at lockdown candling but they were all moving well and still no pips.

Almost...

I love when the head first pops out, then wobbles about as they rest up for the final push to freedom.

My neighbors have free-range guineas. That's the reason I think there is no problem with my 150+ roosters, LOL

Jason, I still had your PM. I'm going to start sorting out the pens this weekend. DH checked all pens to make sure he hadn't left any uncollected eggs anywhere. So now anything laid is fresh for sure (and hopefully not too muddy now). I'd have to check with him to see if the Marans are laying, but I'll let you know as soon as I do. Thanks.
