You would lose the auto-sexing, but would end up with OE's. Also, I've processed both breeds and they are both tasty birds. I usually process them around four months.I have an inquiry: would an marans rooster over a CL hen make a sex linked OE?
I'm figuring the marans may make the cross a little meat heavier and better processing for the boys.
I have marans/ AM crosses going, but wondering about CL
Just a little chicken math going on here.
I already need more pens, so what's another one right??
I bet he's getting more calls than he can take care of, lolFor someone in the area!

Thank you Deb. I got all excited thinking I'm some awesome genius chicken scientist over here. I know some crosses are sex linked, but heard the CL boys aren't worth processing. Thought the marans would add some meat on the bones. You would lose the auto-sexing, but would end up with OE's. Also, I've processed both breeds and they are both tasty birds. So the CL's are good? I need to take one of @PetRock 's processing classes. My only fear is that if i do it few and far in-between , I really won't learn anything. The time i did it myself it took HOURS for a few birds
