Purina Animal Nutrition LLC Recalls Poultry Feeds Due to
Potential Health Risk

April 16, 2014 - The Purina Animal Nutrition LLC feed plant in Portland, Ore., has initiated a limited recall of certain poultry feeds due to the potential for lower-than-expected vitamin and trace mineral levels. The products were distributed to retailers in Oregon and Washington.

Inadequate vitamin and trace mineral levels can result in health problems, including mortality, in poultry. No customer complaints have been received to date.

How's everyone's hatches going?

So far 9 of the 19 d'Anver chicks have hatched with 2 more pips on day 21. 6 chocolate mottled, 1 solid chocolate and 2 porcelain. I have some pips in the next batch of LF eggs that are on day 20.

d'Anver chicks~ What is it about mottled chicks that is so cute?!

Mine has been pleasing well so far but I am NO photographer. I have another incubator due today or tomorrow. I didn't write down the time of day I set them. I caged the BCM & the AM because thie incubator has a lot of F1 & F2 OEs in it. It might have been too hard to tell who's who in there.....LOL

Awwwww.....They are adorable!!! I set 35 eggs yesterday for a Sat hatch but 2 of those were iffy. Of course, I'm watching for pips already today. I just can't help myself!

We are well! This week was busy and then some. Aperently the outside spring cleaning was good cause the baby moved out of breech position. :-))))) took the pita pintas, faverolle, bresse, fbcm, and od out to the spare dog crate. They were in heaven . Everyone came to say hello and they ran in and out introducing themselves. Charles Wallace ( od cockerel ) supervised visitation very nicely. So happy to have the friendly flock. Now to find a coop... Dh WILL pass out if I add one more thing to his plate.
That's good to hear about your baby! One of mine kept flipping head up head down during the last month of pregnancy. He ended up head down which was good! He is the kid who has kept us hopping ever since then!

Chickee they are adorable!
You are testing my willpower to it's limit. There is still some time left on BBB's auction, how upset would DH be to see more eggs in the bator since the last hatch is still in laundry room? If I get busy and build maybe not to ticked off. To be fair he doesn't mind the girls just the crowing.

There is your fertility problem! Your rooster is thinking too much about the nature of time and microcondrial invasions to do the deed!

Only name head roosters after characters who know how to henseminate!
:D

Bwahahaha! You are so correct. It dawned on me early last week so we banded the od I would sell and moved them to the layers coop and sure enough ... He lost his shynesswith only 5 hens. Thus the naming ritual ;-)

Yay! Sounds like everyone is getting a decent hatch this time around

The waiting from lockdown to first pip is the hardest part! Hope you have a good hatch!

They are hard to resist! Just tell your husband the chicks in the laundry room will be old enough to be out of the house by the time the next chicks hatch

I have admiration for those of you who farm and have young children.

When I lived in town, I worked with preschoolers, infants & toddlers for 19 years and I was really good at it. But now, I'm trying to run a ranch and started babysitting my 3 year old grandson. I don't have time to do anything extra, like go on the computer! So, I'm quickly checking in.

At his house, he gets to run outside and open his coop for the chickens to come out. He almost did that with my row of breeding pens! He also thinks it's fun to throw eggs on the ground! And he locked me inside one of the pens when I went inside. Luckily, he let me out when asked.

They have to move and need to find a home for their flock of Buckeyes, if anyone is interested.

@ronott1 hows the Easter Hatch going?
