Thank you Deb, I need to start processing my own. I've done it once but took forever. So I dread it and end up selling these nice dinners to someone else. Nice brooder too! I just got my DH to seperate the old horse stall into 2 pens, and Room to grow out 2 sets of chicks. I have my eye on the other stall and pen as a grow out for roosters to become dinner. I'm really intrigued with caponizing.I think most of the bulbs are 75W. I clip them on a table above them or directly on the bin, depending on how low I want the bulb for heat. It takes me about 45-60 minutes to pluck and eviscerate three chickens, then about another hour to pick out every tiny pinfeather. I'm a little OCD.I find that's my limit per session because my back starts to hurt from leaning over the sink. But then, I'm a senior citizen! Okay, it's worse, I also have one of these in the garage.
The top one is heated, the bottom two have Eco-glow heaters. There were seven bins going in the house. It was because I had so many different ages and species. One had quail, one had call ducks, one had ducks and geese, etc, etc.
