California - Northern

I think most of the bulbs are 75W. I clip them on a table above them or directly on the bin, depending on how low I want the bulb for heat. It takes me about 45-60 minutes to pluck and eviscerate three chickens, then about another hour to pick out every tiny pinfeather. I'm a little OCD. ;) I find that's my limit per session because my back starts to hurt from leaning over the sink. But then, I'm a senior citizen! Okay, it's worse, I also have one of these in the garage. The top one is heated, the bottom two have Eco-glow heaters. There were seven bins going in the house. It was because I had so many different ages and species. One had quail, one had call ducks, one had ducks and geese, etc, etc.
Thank you Deb, I need to start processing my own. I've done it once but took forever. So I dread it and end up selling these nice dinners to someone else. Nice brooder too! I just got my DH to seperate the old horse stall into 2 pens, and Room to grow out 2 sets of chicks. I have my eye on the other stall and pen as a grow out for roosters to become dinner. I'm really intrigued with caponizing.

It gets easier with practice. I process by myself and can get two done in about an hour. Last time I skinned them instead of plucking.

I kind of preferred plucking though.

@chiqita 's Mario was practicing on processed cockerels. I so not know if he has caponized any yet though.
Oh Man! I need to go to chiqita's place. @chiqita - tell Mario I'll bring him table eggs as a peace offering in order to learn this. Once he's done it of course. Then he won't have to eat your eggs set to hatch.

I think i had a rough experience. my neighbor helped me and since it was a one time thing we did 8-10. We were working for hours and it was starting to get hot outside.
There is a processor local but he charges $4-$5 each

I processed with @capayvalleychick and Paul. We processed 9 and it did not take all day. I think we finished in less than 4 hours.

Those Delawares were huge too!

My new little foster puppy. About 4 months old, Border Collie/Pit Bull mix. Gets along with the chickens better than any dog I've ever fostered. She completely ignores them, and when one of the hens decided to attack her she just backed away crying, poor thing! She's such a good little girl! She needs a loving home ;)

What a cutie pie!

I need to find a processor in my area!

Kathy - off topic here, but I've been dying to know, but I was too busy with the Easter Hatch. What's up with the opossum in your picture? You have a pet opossum?

Thanks for letting us know!

I did not think we broke any rules recently.
